Cameron
"Cameron," Jake whispers. "Cameron, wake up, there's something urgent we have to attend to in the cafeteria this morning before breakfast."
I open my eyes. Light streams in. The boys look at me. My shoes are still on, and my pillow is wet from the lake. My clothes are still wet, too.
"Bro," Aaron says. "Why are you wearing shoes?" He touches my shirt. "And why are you wet?"
"It's a long story."
"We can wait to go to breakfast." Ryan says as he takes a seat on a chair.
I sit up in bed. "I went into the lake last night."
Aaron's eyes grow big. "By yourself, or with someone?"
"With Taylor." I whisper.
"Woah." Aaron sits down. "Did you two..." He trails off but I know what he's talking about.
"No. We were wearing our clothes." I say. "But we did kiss." I say in almost a whisper.
None of them hear me, though.
"I gotta take a shower." I get up and take a shower.
They still stand by the door and try to talk to me. But I can't make-out what they're saying.
I turn off the water and walk around the bathroom. I forgot clothes. I walk out wearing only my towel. Taylor's sitting on my bed. She bites her lip. Probably to keep from smiling.
"Um... My clothes are right there." I say pointing to the suitcase.
"You can get them." She says.
I inch over the the suitcase and grab my clothes, then I go back into the bathroom and get changed. I come out and sit by her.
"I never knew you had a six-pack." She says.
I smile.
"Can you explain why she's here?" Aaron says. All three boys stand in one corner of the room.
I look at her. "They're onto us." She says. "They came to me and started interrogating me. I tried not to tell them about last night, but it slipped, and now they're going to beat you." Her honey-brown hair falls around her face. I look into her hazel eyes. Not green. Not brown. Hazel. I see the tears she's fighting back.
"It's okay, they can't beat me tomorrow because I'm leaving tomorrow."
A tear dares to escape her eyes, but I wipe them away. Her skin is so soft.
"Come on, it will be okay, I promise."
She nods and blinks a few times. We get up and all 5 of us head to the cafeteria together.
"Taylor," Some girl yells. Taylor stops and turns around on her heal. "I heard what you did last night." The girl says as she comes closer. There's 3 girls altogether.
"Amber," Taylor says. "What did I do last night?"
"You hung out with a retched boy." Another girl says.
"Boys aren't that bad." Taylor says. "You'll understand what I mean when you're older."
The girl by the name of Amber gets offended, and slaps Taylor's arm.
"Do you think that was supposed to hurt?" Taylor says. My love for Taylor grows just because she doesn't give in to those girls.
We walk away.
