I haven't heard from Taylor since the wedding 2 months ago. I'm worried there's something happening. She hasn't been returning my calls or texts. I'm worried about her.
"I'm worried about her." I say to Aaron and Jake who don't seem interested.
"Bruh, maybe she found love with someone else." Aaron says
School has already begun.
"No. I need to see her." I say.
I grab my stuff and get in the car. I take a deep breathe, and head out towards her town.
I walk into the library. There she is reading The Fault in Our Stars with tears in her eyes. She looks so content. So peaceful. I send her a quick text.
Look to your right.
She looks up from her book and turns her head towards me. Her smile is so big. I walk up to her.
"Hey," I say.
"You're here. You're really here." She wraps me in a hug.
"I was worried about you. What's going on?"
Her smile fades. She bites her lip.
"2 months ago, my littlest sister, Lilly, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She's been through chemo, and she's almost done with her chemo treatment. She's doing really well, and I'm sorry for not texting you back, but I'm not allowed to be with you." She says.
"I'm so sorry." I say.
"It's fine. Someone was bound to get it in our family."
"I'm glad to hear she's doing good."
"Me too."
We talk for a few more hours until I have to leave.
"I'm not going to camp this year." Taylor says right before I leave.
"So we won't see each other?" I say.
She nods. I go to my car, and leave. I'll never see her again. I'll never talk to her again. I'll never know about her again.
Tears fill my eyes at the thought. I go into an intersection. I look to my right when I'm in the middle of the intersection.
Car lights are coming straight for me. I get shaken. And that's all. No one will know my story.
