Aubrey
It's been almost two weeks and there's still no sign of Cameron. Taylor claims that she has no idea where he went, and that she's not allowed to talk to him. I'm getting worried. He's the only sibling that I've ever had.
I'm so worried that I can't focus on my school. It's starting to get colder outside. What if he went into the woods, and fell asleep, and lost his way back? He could die out there. No that wouldn't make any sense. I don't think he knows where the woods are.
His 17th birthday is coming up, and we have no way to celebrate it because we don't know where he is. Anne's been making 'Missing Child' posters and posting them everywhere. And I mean everywhere.
Aaron and Jake haven't heard from him since the day he left. What if he died and no one knew? No. No. Someone would have told us. Someone. The police. Someone.
I put my face into my hands and shake my head. Just then I get a phone call from an unknown number. I never pick up the phone unless I know the number, but in this case, I'll pick it up. Cameron could've lost his phone and had to use someone else's.
I take a deep breath, and press the green button.
"Hello?" I say.
"Hello. Are you Aubrey Watson?" A lady on the other end says.
It's not Cameron that's for sure. "Um. Depends who's asking." I say.
"I'm Carol Campbell. I'm Cameron Campbell's aunt. I'm also a nurse at the hospital. You were the second person on Cameron's contact list. We've already contacted the first person, but they didn't pick up. Miss Watson, what is your relationship with Cameron like."
"Do you know where he is? Is he alright? Is he in the hospital? We've been so worried about him. Which hospital is he at? What happened? Why did it take you so long to tell us anything?"
"Miss Watson," Carol interrupts. "I can not tell you anything until you tell me how you know Cameron."
"Oh. Yeah. Sorry. I'm his little sister. By adoption. More of, my dad, and his mom got married. So we're kinda like siblings."
"Okay, Cameron is at the hospital..."
When Carol is done speaking I go to find Anne.
"I know where Cameron is." I say.
She stares at me and just about drops her coffee. We get in the car and I tell her directions on how to get to a hospital 2 hours from here.
"This is the city Taylor lives in?" Anne says.
"Yeah. Apparently." I say.
We walk into the hospital. Anne walks up to the front desk and asks the nurse there where Cameron's room is. She tells us, and we walk over to that room.
"Why's he sleeping?" I say.
Anne is silent. I look up at her. Tears are forming in her eyes, and she's biting her lip. I look back at Cameron. He has a tube going into his mouth, and he has bandages over him.
"Is he okay?" I say too loudly.
"Cameron's in a coma."
