Taylor

I walk into cabin 13 room B. 3 other girls already have their stuff here. They look at me with slight disgrace when I walk through the door. There's 2 sets of bunk beds, and a window looking at the boys cabin. I put my sheets on the top bunk. I can already tell I'm not going to enjoy this week.

I get my notebook out of my suitcase, and put it on the bed along with my pillow pet. I put my flashlight up there... Just in case. I also stash a little tiny package of Oreo's in my pillow pet. I lay down on my bed.

"Hey girls." An overly exited lady says. "I'm your camp leader for this cabin, I'll be staying in the room next to yours if you need anything, okay? okay. My name is Victoria. Well, in about 30 minutes we're going to go to the Chapel for a worship service." She goes silent. I almost pop my head up to see if she's still there. But then she speaks. "Is everyone here? Raise your hand when I say your name. Amber? Allison? Anna?" They all shoot their hands in the air. "Taylor?" I shoot my hand in the air. "Oh. Taylor. I didn't see you there." She laughs a little, then walks away.

I start writing in my notebook.

I can already tell this week is going to be terrible. All the other girl's names start with the letter 'A' I'm the only one who starts with 'T' Couldn't I have been named Abby???? Or something? Ugh. Then our camp leader for this cabin is overly exited. I can't listen to music because Dad didn't want me to bring any electronics!!!! UGH!!!!

30 minutes goes by quicker than I thought it would. The girls start to exit, but I just stare out the window for a moment. "Taylor, come on." Victoria says.

I walk out of the room, and into the chapel.

The guy talks for what feels like a decade. But finally I'm getting herded into the cafeteria to eat dinner. It's not that good. But, what can you expect from camp? I don't sit with my group. I sit at a table with no one else, at the edge for if someone would like to sit with me.

"I AM NOT!" A boy yells then storms out of the room cafeteria. Not what? I want to follow him, but I know I shouldn't. I stick with eating my disgusting stuff they call food.

The table the boy left starts laughing. It's only then that I realize they're staring at me and laughing. This is not going to go well. I get up leaving the slop behind me. I walk over to the table.

"What's your deal?" I say.

The boy with with shaggy dark hair and wide rimmed glasses starts laughing again. Then tries to stop, then continues laughing.

"Dude, chill." A guy with blond hair nudges the other one in the ribs.

"Why are you people laughing at me?"

The red haired one answers me. "We're not laughing at you, we're laughing at our friend Cameron."

"Why were you staring at me then?" I say with a little more anger then I intended to. The blond one starts laughing. I can't stand it. I go to punch him, but he leans back just in time.

"Hey, no hurting my friends." The red haired one says as he swings a punch at me. I duck and kick him in the knee.

He shakes his leg a few times. I turn around to find the blond one about to punch me. I don't duck, but I punch him in the gut which makes him stop his punch. The red haired one puts me up against the wall in a choke. I punch him in the gut and he doubles over in pain.

"Stop, break it up." Someone says.

"Oh heck no." The blond says as he goes to kick me.

"You boys should know better." I punch him in the stomach. The stomach area is the only area I can punch because they're so tall and I'm so short.

Someone grabs me from behind and starts picking me up off my feet. I manage to elbow him in the stomach. He lets go, then doubles over in pain. I look at him. He's a camp leader. Whoops.

"Stop. Please." He says still on the ground rubbing his stomach. A few other camp leader come in and lead us to a different part of the camp.

"What the heck is wrong with you three?" Says a man by the name of Amos according to his name tag.

"She started it." The blond one states.

"Why did you start it?" Amos says to me.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because they started it by laughing at me." I say with attitude.

"Calm down." He says. I am calm!

I just want to go over the table and choke this man.

"Maybe we did start it." The boy with wide rimmed glasses says.

"Thank you." I say.

"We were laughing, not at her but looking in her direction. I'd be pretty annoyed if someone did that to me too." He says.

"Ryan, dude. No. Don't give in." The blond one says.

"But it's true." Ryan says.

The red haired one sighs.

"If another incident like this happens again everyone is having a time-out."  Amos says.

"Time-out? Aren't those little kid things?" I say.

Amos ignores my question. "Just go back to your room. Now."

We exit the building. The boys meet up with their friend who stormed out of the building earlier. I look at him. He has short brown hair. He's really cute. Stop! Don't fill your mind with such nonsense.

I walk down the road to my cabin.

"Are you guys following me?" I say.

They notice that I speak. "Uh. No. We're going to our cabin." They turn to the cabin right by mine.

I go to mine and go up to the top bunk.

"It's time for bed girls, lights out." Victoria says.

She turns out the lights right when I get settled in bed. All 3 girls whisper to each other. When the whispering finally dies down I still can't sleep.

Images of that kid still pops into my mind. His short brown hair. I didn't get a glimpse of his eyes. It's bugging me so bad. I toss and turn until I'm tired of tossing and turning. I get out of bed. I put on my black converse high tops, then put on a hoodie, I walk out of the cabin. I walk over by a tree. I lean against it, and think about the kid a saw.
