I should have known from the start that it would've been a while before we have Lilly's funeral. I didn't think we would be having it in April.

Everybody is still grieving the loss of Lilly even though she died 3 months ago. Zander sits across the room. One person at a time goes up and says some fond memory of Lilly. Not everyone goes up, only those who want to.

"Lilly was my little sister." Katie says. "I loved her so much. It's terrible to ever think that she would be gone. But, she won't be. She'll be in our hearts forever."

Katie's eyes land on me as she continues to speak.

I close my eyes, then stand up and exit the church's sanctuary. I sit down on the couches they have in the foyer.

"Hey, you okay?" Zander says.

"No, I can't even breathe." I don't look at him, that'll just make it worse.

He sits down next to me and hugs me close. "It'll be okay. I know it will."

"You don't know that. I could die from crying so hard."

"That's not a thing, but, in a few months from now you'll be fine. You'll still miss Lilly, but you'll be fine. It will still hurt to think about her, but not as much."

"How do you know?"

"I lost my twin sister Chloe died 2 years ago. No one saw it coming. But, I did. She started acting really sad a few weeks before, and she gave me and her best friend a few of her things. Then, one morning I woke up went into the bathroom and she was just laying there, dead; pills sprawled across the floor."

He takes in a shaky breath. "I'm so sorry." I say. All the sadness of Lilly dying has gone away. I'm so focused on him. We stare into each others eyes. Our heads inch closer and closer. Our lips touch. And I feel so alive. It's like I've been sleeping for days and now I'm finally awake. I push him away.

"We should probably go back in there." I say.

"Yeah, probably."
