Nigel Norland was having the weirdest dream he had ever had in his life. He was dancing with a man , the tango actually, but it was not Richard. It was Reese Malden. They were gliding across the room as gracefully as the actors in the old movies he had loved as a teenager. Old Astaire and Rogers pictures. Just as he dipped the man and he laughed the dream ended with him waking up in his hospital bed. As he lay there in the bed he felt a definite loss and didn't understand why. He also had a sudden urge for nachos with double cheese and chili. And he hated that shit.
He sighed. And touched his chest. He was happy for the new heart. He felt much better. Not as tired or drained as before. He just didn't feel like himself at all. Damn it. He felt so ungrateful. He should be thrilled. This heart was giving him a new life in a sense. More time with his family and friends. But he hated why he had it. Someone had died for him to live. And he didn't even know who the donor was.
Although he had his suspicions , he thought as he looked over at the Washington Reign newspaper Richard was reading as he sat beside him. On the cover was a front page story about the stabbings and Roman and the victim who died..... Eric Fletcher. His eye gazed at the picture of Eric Fletcher. The man seemed to be calling him somehow.
Richard glanced at him over the paper. " How did you sleep, darling? "
" Not bad. Strange dreams though. So the paper is talking about all of it I see. I can't believe Roman actually..... I know he was odd and obsessed with Lyle but I never thought he would...... "
Richard folded up the newspaper. " Don't even think about him. Just concentrate on recovering. Busy day for me today. They're releasing Lewis this afternoon and I promised the kids we would go out for pizza. Do you want me to bring you back something? "
Nigel pulled up the blanket and sheet on himself. " Nachos. And a calzone. "
Richard looked puzzled. " I didn't think you liked food such as that. But I'll get it for you. Whatever you want I'll get. "
" I usually don't like it but I guess things change. "
Richard leaned over and kissed him. And Nigel kissed him back with a renewed sense of passion that he soon forgot about food. Especially nachos and calzones.
" I love you, Nigel Norland. "
" I love you too , Richard Norland. "
