In Miracle's bedroom she was still sleeping peacefully and happily in her crib with the baby monitor and white noise machine propped up on a nearby end table. At the large window there were the black out curtains that Spencer had had DuBuis put up to keep out the light from disturbing her sleep ; a suggestion he had read in a Baby Bloom magazine article.
Spencer sat by the crib in his manual upstairs wheelchair , sound asleep with a large colorful quilt across his lap.
DuBuis stood beside him with a loving smile on his face as he watched his husband. He leaned down to press a tender kiss on his forehead.
Spencer mumbled something in what sounded like French or maybe Italian before he slowly opened up his eyes. His eyes nervously went over to the crib but once he saw the baby was there and fine they calmed down greatly. Then his eyes focused on his husband. " Hello, sweetie. Scrubs? You're going to work? "
DuBuis nodded. " Yeah. The kids are off to school. I'm going to pick up Alfred. I want you to rest today, okay? No bookkeeping at the restaurant. No feuding with LuLu the Loud next door. You and Miracle enjoy the day. If you need me just call. "
Spencer smiled softly. " We'll be fine. I'm only planning to stay in today. It's.... too chilly out there for her. I need to order a pretty pageant outfit for her from The Pretty Baby Boutique. She'll need a swimsuit, a little formal dress, something casual. "
DuBuis didn't like baby beauty pageants but if it kept Spencer's mind off yesterday and what Flower had done he was game for it.
Besides, he thought as he looked at the sleeping baby in her pale pink onesie pajamas, he thought she was the only baby entered capable of winning. After all she was their daughter. Their little beauty queen.
