" What the hell are you doing here, Father? ," Joe snapped tersely as he pulled away from Winston's delectable mouth to stare at his father.
Gregory smiled coldly. " Well it's election year coming up so I figured I would check up on my sonny boy. Oh. There. You are alive. Better luck next time. "
Winston gasped. Even his father had not been this cruel to him. Of course his father had never visited him after the...... Or when he was shot. So what did he know about healthy and respectful father/ son relationships ? He remained by his new husband's side and reached for his hand, his head held proudly.
Spencer gasped as well. He couldn't even imagine his mother being that mean. And certainly not his father. DuBuis was used to the senator. He had briefly met him during his time with Joe. Like two ships passing in the night really. It had not been a good pleasant meeting.
Lyle had been enjoying the wedding but now wished they could leave the hospital. He remembered this man from his and Angel's own wedding at Richard and Nigel's. The man made Angel's father look sweet.
Angel sighed. " Hello, Uncle. How are you? "
Gregory cut his eyes at his nephew and leaned on his tall elegant walking stick with the carved wood wolf's head. He laughed roughly. " I'm not surprised to see you and yours here, Austin. Your poor father and myself have one thing in common. Two worthless sons who live to embarrass us both."
His eyes swept around the room until they landed on Winston. He laughed. " It would be old Reilly Arnett's son. " He shook his head at Joe. " Another disappointment. The two of you are almost perfect for each other. We should have had you aborted , Joseph. At least then your mother would have been still alive. "
Joy cut through the tense filled silent room with her stern words ," I don't think that is a very polite or Christian thing to say to your son who very nearly died. "
The senator ignored her and everyone else as he continued to look at his son. " Don't expect me to add him to my will. You're lucky you are in it still. "
Winston stood up, looked at his father in law and gave him the finger silently.
Gregory just laughed. " Ignorant little man - woman. "
Joe leaned forward in the bed , uncaring of the wires and IV attached to his body. His attention was solely on his seventy year old father. " Fuck off. Get out of here before I bust stitches kicking you in the ass. Which I will do if you ever again insult the only man I love and have ever loved. "
