" The school is closed today for that young girl's funeral," Spencer said as he read an email from the PTA at the breakfast table.

DuBuis nodded solemnly as he kept reading the Washington Reign newspaper. " I know. Gerald told everyone yesterday right before school let out. Loudspeaker announcement. It's going to be a busy day in the DMV funeral wise. They're burying Eric Fletcher today too. Says it right here in the paper. Gonna be a lot of cops out for it. And rich entertainment types.  It's invite only but I hear Reese's fans are doing a prayer vigil outside the National Cathedral in DC. It's all too sad. I hate funerals. Mama's made me not want to step foot in another one but I work at the school. Gerald wants all staff to attend the Dennis burial as a sign of respect. " He looked at Spencer carefully. " I know she shot your nephew. I don't expect you to come with. "

Spencer put down his phone and wiped off a bit of cereal milk from Miracle's face. Miracle had recently started to eat on her own with only a little help from others but she tended to be messy. " I don't think it will be a problem. Yes , she hurt Lewis but he's fine and out of the hospital. I think we should be there for the parents. I can't imagine what they are going through. Losing a child..... And their only child......"

DuBuis said softly as he looked at the four kids gathered around the table ," What are the odds, right? "

Spencer just smiled faintly but didn't respond to his husband. " Of course we will go. All of us. Richard is going too because he knows the father. I'm not sure if he actually remembers him. You know his memories are coming back bit by bit. "

Luci crunched reluctantly on the vegetarian plant based bacon Spencer had started cooking for breakfast due to DuBuis' high blood pressure issues and Sol's recent increasing determination to move away from pork products and beef and chicken. He wasn't completely calling himself a vegan or vegetarian though. He just believed that consuming meat was bad for both the environment and the animals that had to be killed. Luci liked Sol but she also liked real bacon so she was torn. " I don't see why we have to go. Seriously? She tortured us that day. We had to watch her shoot Lewis and herself. Now we have to go to her funeral. How is that fair? I'm not going to that thing. "

Sol and Theodore glanced at each other but kept silent as they ate their heart healthy plant based meals.

DuBuis shook his head at his niece as he folded up the newspaper. " You are. I know it was traumatic for you all. It was traumatic for everyone involved that day. Even parents who were not there. But God wants us to help others and going to a funeral helps to comfort those left behind. The parents didn't do anything. They deserve a decent showing to their only child's home going. "

As Luci rolled her eyes at her uncle Theodore's phone dinged with a text message. It was from Alan saying that he was feeling a little sick so he wouldn't be at the funeral that day.
