Dodie Angeletti was seriously irritated. No. She was pissed. She had been calling Jeremiah constantly for the past two days and the cocky arrogant bastard was refusing to answer her calls. She knew he was busy setting up the precious firm of his but really. She had needs and the man was not fulfilling them. Although she wondered if he was fulfilling them with that day care center owner Bliss Jones. Bliss. She mentally snorted as she pictured the beautiful Black woman. What a stupid name. It was not like she was not just as busy. Her mother was doing cancer treatment after all. And she was raising three impossible children who she had recently caught trying to hack into the Barrington Academy computer system for some odd ungodly reason she couldn't decipher. They apparently took after her brother and their uncle who had spent his growing up years hacking as well. When he didn't have his nose in a book. Speaking of Alfred he was actually moving in with that fat old  man this weekend instead of reuniting with Scott who was obviously the better man. And her mother was just letting him do it. Although she had always let Alfred get away with everything growing up so why was this any different ? Now her ? She had gotten away with nothing. Nada. And , Tony's last monthly check to her was late which was annoying. Maybe he was using it to buy more Geritol for his new lady love old Marge.

She heard Jeremiah's damned voice mail recording one more time as she sat behind her circular glass topped desk in her spacious plant filled office. She hung up the phone and promptly did a primal scream. Right before she picked up a big bronze paperweight and tossed it at the closed door just as it swiftly opened.

It narrowly missed her new personal assistant David HighTower who came in with a startled look on his face and the spinach and cauliflower pizza she had had him pick up from that cute little vegan pizzeria around the corner. They gave her a lovely discount on food and drink there because she featured them once quite prominently in the magazine. It was damn good pizza too.

Dave smirked at her as he placed the pizza before her on the desk. " Bad day , Dodie , dear ? "

Dodie rolled her eyes. " Men suck. I'm so over them. "

Dave laughed as he flopped in a nearby chair and inspected his manicured fingernails carefully. " Tell me about it. I seem to be in a massive drought. I thought maybe I'm getting older but no. It's just them that suck. Apparently they prefer little mute men who want to trap them in domestic boredom. "

Dodie opened the fragrant box and lifted up a thinly cut slice to take a big bite. " Talk to me when you get dumped for some old travel writer named Marge. Marge. How ordinary. I hope Tony gets warts on his ass. I hope his dick falls off. "

Dave shivered over that image as he reached for a slice of pizza. " I'm thinking of trying Harts and Flowers. But that's where I met Lyle and I don't want to be in another coma of boredom again. All I want is a nice rich sugar daddy to take care of me. Is that so bad ? "

Dodie finished the slice in record time and reached for another one. All she wanted was a handsome interesting intelligent man with a lot of stamina. Someone like.... her step father Andrew, she thought.

Then she smiled. Andrew had been looking a little tense lately. Maybe she could help him relax.
