I took the first cab I saw and gave him the address. Thanks to my crew, I felt less nervous. After all, what was I fearing ? I've always spent time with Chan, it was like an ordinary night. And I felt confident about myself thanks to the boys. The cab stopped in front of a building that seemed to be offices. I frowned and texted Chan :

Night Owl

Me : I think I'm here, but it seems close?

Night Owl : Don't worry, enter and tell the janitor that you're with me

Night Owl : Then took the elevator to the roof

Me : Uh.. OK ?

Night Owl : See ya 😉

I looked up and widened my eyes. This building was high ! And I needed to go up there ?! I came in the building and saw the watchman, sitting on his desk in front of cameras. As our eyes met, I waved awkwardly at him. After telling him I was there to see Bangchan, he showed me the way to the elevator without giving me further explanations. I jumped in and pressed the last button. On the way, the stress made its way back. What was I doing ? Coming to the roof of a building in the middle of NYC ? The elevator stopped and the door opened.

I took a step outside and put a hand on my mouth. The roof was illuminated by many fairy lights. In the middle of the roof, a huge blanket with candles and food. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was amazed by the scene. He did all of that ? Just for me ?

Chan appeared next to me, with a huge smile on his face. "Welcome ! I told you I wanted to do something special for your birthday.". I turned to face him and detailed him. He was wearing a pair of ripped jeans with an oversized sky-blue shirt, tucked in his jeans. He had rolled up his sleeves, which showed his veiny arms. This is my weakness. I came back to his beautiful face and looked at him with round eyes. "You did that for me...?". I had trouble believing it. This was too good to be true. "All for you. Come closer, the sight is incredible !". He took my hand and guided me to the verge of the roof. I leaned against the ledge and opened my mouth, mesmerized : "Wow.".

From the roof, we had a blow-minding view of the city. The lights were dancing, along with the people living their lives in the buildings in front of us. At the bottom, people were crossing the streets, having no clue they were observed. From here, they appeared like ants. The city was living, and standing there, watching it, felt like the place was out of time. I whispered : "Chan It's breathtaking.". Chan whispered back "It is.". I turned my eyes to meet his. He wasn't looking at the view, but at me.

Sensing he was caught staring, he looked away and changed the subject : "Anyway, are you hungry ?". I giggled, feeling a slight blush creeping on my cheeks. "Starving actually.". He made a gesture towards the blanket, inviting me to sit. I sat with my legs on the side and praised him for all the things he had prepared. While he explained all the organization behind the surprise, he took an extra blanket and covered my legs with it. I smiled fondly, moved by the simple gesture. Chan was the gentleman type, always taking care of you.

We spent the first part of the night eating and talking. It felt as comfortable as always. But I felt like something was slightly different. Chan seemed to be more open, and more dedicated to the moment. His gaze felt more intense, but also more... bold ? Each time I caught him looking at me, he wouldn't look away, embarrassed. Instead, he would just smile, holding my gaze. And each time he did that, my heart melted and my legs turned into jelly. After a while, we laid down next to each other to watch the stars. The sky was clear enough to enjoy stargazing, which was pretty rare in the middle of a huge city.
