Jennie's POV:
The day of my flight back to Seoul felt surreal. I was finally going home, but I wanted to keep it a secret—something special, just for my family. The only person who knew was Ahyeon. We had been in touch regularly, and she was just as excited as I was, if not more.Ahyeon, my little sister, was so close to graduating. I couldn’t believe how quickly time had flown by. She was already in the final stages of her engineering degree, balancing her on-the-job training with her studies. I was so proud of her, seeing how dedicated she was to her future. It reminded me of when I was in her shoes, full of dreams and determination.
As I sat in the airport lounge, waiting for my flight, I couldn’t help but think about our parents. They were about to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary—thirty years of love, laughter, and challenges overcome together.
They were the living proof of a "happily ever after," and their relationship had always been a source of inspiration for me. I couldn’t wait to surprise them, to see their faces light up when I walked through the door.
The thought of our family being together again brought a smile to my face. Ahyeon had told me about all the plans she was making for their anniversary, and I couldn’t wait to be part of the celebration. It felt like the perfect time to return, to be there for this milestone in their lives. As the boarding announcement echoed through the airport, I took a deep breath and gathered my things. This was it. I was finally going home.
I sent one last text to Ahyeon, letting her know I was on my way. The rest of it would be a surprise—a beautiful, long-awaited surprise.
Stepping out of the taxi, I felt a wave of nostalgia hit me as I stood in front of our family home.
Everything looked the same—the familiar garden, the front porch where I spent so many evenings with my parents, and the warmth that always seemed to emanate from within. I took a deep breath, feeling the excitement and anticipation bubble up inside me. It had been too long since I was last here.I rang the doorbell, my heart racing. I could hear footsteps approaching, and when the door finally opened, I was greeted by the most shocked and delighted expressions on my parents’ faces.
"Jennie!" my mom exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief as she pulled me into a tight hug. My dad was right behind her, joining the embrace with a laugh of pure joy.
"We had no idea you were coming home! This is the best surprise!" my dad said, his voice filled with happiness.
I hugged them both tightly, feeling the warmth and love I had missed so much. "I wanted to surprise you. I’ve been planning this for a while," I said, pulling back slightly to look at their faces.
My mom’s eyes were already tearing up. "You’re really here," she whispered, still holding onto me as if I might disappear.
"And I have one more surprise for you," I said, my heart pounding with excitement.
I stepped aside, revealing the little bundle I had been holding.
"This is Kaleb, your grandson."
A/N: Happy loooooong weekend 🥳
