When Lisa told me she was happy at the thought of having a child, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Knowing she wanted the same thing made everything seem a little easier, like we were on the same page after all these years. But then, the weight of my secret came crashing back down.

Kaleb.

I knew Lisa had the right to know the truth

I knew Lisa had the right to know the truth. She deserved to know about my son. But the fear of how she might react held me back. I was still searching for the right moment, the perfect time to tell her everything. Yet, as the days passed, I found myself hesitating more and more.

What if telling her now changed everything between us?

I took a deep breath, trying to push those thoughts aside. I’d have to tell her soon, maybe tonight.Finding the right timing was crucial, and I knew it wasn’t far off. But until then, I’d hold on to this fragile happiness, hoping it would survive the truth when it finally came out.

Today, I found myself back in the office again. Lately, I've been reporting in more frequently, even though I’m not a full-time employee, just a consultant. Today was one of those days that felt like it required my full attention. I was scheduled to meet with the supplier for the furniture—a crucial meeting since we were dealing with Dave, the notoriously hard-to-please owner.

I entered the meeting room with Nayeon, one of the managers from the design team, and Joy, one of their architects. Both were experienced, and I knew they could handle themselves well.

Lisa joined us as well, her presence immediately making the room feel different. She was incredibly hands-on, something I admired about her. As she walked in, our eyes met, and she gave me a small smile. I returned it subtly, trying to stay professional.

The meeting began smoothly enough, with everyone discussing the designs and budget. But as we started to go over the details, Dave’s attention began to shift.
I could tell he wasn’t just interested in the furniture anymore. He was trying to flirt with me—complimenting my designs, my work ethic, and then my appearance.

"So, Jennie," Dave said with a smirk, leaning back in his chair.

"You always bring such elegance to your work. It’s hard not to be impressed... and a little distracted."
