Lisa's POV:

The moment I saw Jennie sitting at the table, I felt my heart skip a beat. She had changed—she looked more mature, even more beautiful than I remembered. Yet, she still wore the same perfume, the scent that instantly brought back memories I thought I had buried deep.

As we sat down, Jennie began discussing her proposal. She was focused, her voice calm and professional as she laid out her ideas. I tried to listen, really, I did. But my mind was elsewhere, stuck on the fact that she was here, right in front of me, after all these years.

I stole glances at her whenever I thought she wouldn’t notice, letting my eyes linger on the way she moved, the subtle changes in her expression as she spoke. It was strange—she was familiar, yet there was so much about her that felt new. I couldn’t help but wonder what her life had been like in Paris, how she had changed, and what had brought her back to Seoul.

But I knew I couldn’t ask those questions. I couldn’t let on that I was barely listening to the proposal, that all I really wanted was to know how she was, what she’d been through, if she was happy. After everything I’d done, after pushing her away, how could I?

"...so these are the concepts I’ve been working on,"
Jennie said, drawing my attention back to the present.

She slid a few design mock-ups across the table towards me, her eyes meeting mine for the briefest of moments before she looked away.

I nodded, pretending to focus on the papers in front of me.

"They look great, Jennie," I said, keeping my voice steady. "You’ve really put a lot of thought into this."

"Thanks," she replied, her tone polite but distant. I could tell she was being professional, too, but there was a tension in the air that neither of us could ignore.

As the meeting went on, I found myself taking every opportunity to watch her. When she spoke, when she paused to consider a point, when she flipped through her notes—each moment was a chance for me to soak in the reality that she was here, that I could see her again, even if it was only for business.

Yet, beneath the surface, there was a storm of emotions I was trying to keep at bay. I wanted to ask her how she had been, how long she had been back, and if Paris had been everything she had hoped for. But I held back, afraid that opening up would only bring back the pain I had caused, the distance I had put between us.

"Is there anything else you’d like to go over?" Jennie asked, her voice snapping me out of my thoughts.

"No, I think we’ve covered everything for now," I said, trying to sound as if I had been fully engaged.

"I’ll review these and get back to you with any questions."

Jennie nodded, gathering her things. "Alright, then. I’ll look forward to your feedback."

As we wrapped up the meeting, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of loss. Even though she was right in front of me, she felt more out of reach than ever. I wanted to say something, anything, that would bridge the gap between us, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, I remained quiet, taking the last few moments of the meeting to just be in her presence.

It wasn’t until she started to stand up that I finally spoke, my voice betraying none of the turmoil I felt inside.

"It’s good to see you again, Jennie," I said softly.

She looked at me, a flicker of something passing through her eyes before she smiled politely.

"You too, Lis."

And just like that, the meeting was over. She turned to leave, and I knew that for now, all I could do was watch her walk away, feeling the weight of everything I hadn’t said hanging in the air between us.
