Still reeling emotionally, Neon hurried towards where Kousei was being held. But she didn't make it far before pink lasers rained from above.

Beroba laughed maniacally from her aerial position, picking off armed officers with her Photon Raise Cannon like it was a game. With their protection gone, Kousei and Neon were vulnerable.

The bullets moved towards the visiting area, where Kousei was waiting. A shot pierced and destroyed the glass that would've seperated them. With no time to react, Neon rushed to her father.

Explosions rocked the area as Neon shielded Kousei's prone form. A well-placed shot struck near them, sending up a cloud of rubble. When it cleared, both Kousei and Neon lay unconscious.

Nearby, Irumi had been silently ambushed. Avara smirked as she released her victim, having incapacitated her new foe with a carefully placed taser strike.

The kidnappers regrouped, surveying their handiwork. Beroba grinned savagely down at the fallen family. "Excellent work. Now let's deliver them to our 'game' as promised."

Avara propped the still Irumi over her shoulder. "Their despair has only begun."

Later...

Neon stirred awake with a splitting headache. Blinking blearily, she took in her surroundings. They were in a large cylindrical chamber, divided in half by a wide gap in the floor.

Above, the family were shackled to the curving metal wall by their wrists and ankles. Below yawned a ominous shadowy pit.

She wasn't alone either. Kousei lay shackled a short distance away, his eyes reflecting regret. And Irumi's motionless form lay beyond him.

Neon patted herself down with bound hands, finding her Beat Buckle miraculously untouched. Yet her Desire Driver was missing.

"My Driver... is gone..." She murmured.

Without it, she had no way to transform and break them out. Kousei and Irumi remained trapped as well, at the mercy of unknown captors.

Suddenly, Kousei speaks out with a tired voice. "You wanted to talk to me, didn't you?"

Neon turned to face Kousei. For the first time, she may be getting herself some answers. They might not be able to speak openly again after this, so if anything happens, Neon at least wants some answers.

Eyes hard, she answered, "Yes... tell me everything."

Kousei let out a weary sigh, "Where to even begin... I supposed it started eleven years ago. A kidnapping, and a lost life."

Memories of grief flickered across his face, "I had a wish. A simple wish to replace the daughter I'd lost with magic."

The scenes from the meeting flashed across his mind. The moment when his face was the that of a broken man...

"So I suppose, if we revive your daughter, your Conglomerate will sponsor us?" Niram asked in the meeting.

"Revive?... How can I, a father, just live with the fact she died, and bring her back like nothing?" Kousei questioned, voice ragged.

"Us Desire Grand Prix can also offer a memory wipe is so desired." Niram continued, his hands holding up a second Desire Card other than the one Kousei was holding, "We can do two wishes for you, no problem."

"She's dead! Akari is dead. It's the truth. No memory wipes or 'Goddess of Creation' can ever change that. I've failed as a father." He responded.

He shakily took his pen and wrote on his Desire Card.
