This is boring.
Staring out the window of her classroom only a couple days later, (Y/N) exhaled softly as she propped her head up, flipping her pencil between her fingers while her eyes every then and again flicked up toward the clock. School wasn't the most important factor in her life. In fact, her mind was a blur as thoughts of the notebook and what she did the night prior filled up any and all space in her brain.
It's all so unreal.
Doing exactly what Kira was doing...
Killing people with a name and a face, without being present, without the fear of being caught...
It was thrilling.
"Hey," a voice murmured, (Y/N) looking to her right and locking eyes with a girl who viewed her as a friend. "Are you even paying attention?"
"Of course I am, Ayako."
"Gosh, beautiful and smart? Without even having to try?" Ayako rolled her eyes and gave a faux sigh, dramatizing her reaction and making a hint of a smile play on her lips.
"Is that so?" (Y/N) lifted a brow as she leaned forward with a smirk. "Keep going, I'm listening."
Gaping at her, Ayako gave a soft, incredulous laugh, shaking her head at her forwardness whilst uttering, "I would love to, but I'm speechless."
Rolling her eyes, (Y/N) looked forward to the front once more whilst ignoring any other attempt at contact, trying to focus on the next step in regard to the Death Note as she theorized someone must have seen how what was happening was eerily similar to Kira and his doings.
If what I'm thinking is correct, the police, or the one who succeeded L, must have a notebook.
Then that means they know how Kira killed.
How I, am killing.
Narrowing her eyes, she was grateful when the bell rang, packing up her bag and walking with Ayako down to the gate.
"God, Hideki Ryuga is so handsome," Ayako gushed, staring at her phone as she watched said man's latest song released video, noticing the lack of care (Y/N) seemed to display concerning the idol. "(Y/N)... what's with that bored expression on your face? If anything, just the name, 'Hideki Ryuga' should be enough to make you sigh!"
Gliding her gaze to the side of her eye, (Y/N) hummed, "I'm just not interested in him."
"But... why?"
"Because, I'm just not."
"But that's not a reason," Ayako groaned, slipping her phone into her bag just as they exited the iron gates, stopping and turning fully to face (Y/N). "Well, I can't force you to like him, but we will be continuing this conversation tomorrow, okay? Bye, then!"
Giving Ayako a wave, (Y/N) turned and started walking in the opposite direction, quite happy she was out of the talkative girl's presence. Ayako had been glad when Kira was pronounced dead, something (Y/N) found insufferable. Though, to her, Ayako was dense, so that meant she didn't realize what good he had been bringing to the world—how he cleansed it. Kicking a loose pebble off the sidewalk, she watched as it tumbled into the road, the tires of the passing cars soon kicking it up and placing it on the opposite side from her, watching as it bounced to a stop.
Hm...
Just like that rock, the filth of this world just keep bouncing back.
How disgustingly philosophical.
Arriving home, (Y/N) greeted her mother once more. Mio revealed that her father would also once again be working late, something she didn't realize (Y/N) was grateful for. After repeating the same routine of chatting shortly and retrieving a snack, (Y/N) then ascended the stairs to her room, closing and locking the door behind her before switching on the lights, rolling her chair out to take a seat with the Death Note already in hand.
As she began writing, it also began to rain again. The clouds had darkened the sky as they let the clear liquid fall and hit the earth below. Thunder rumbled in the distance. Lightning lit up the space. It was a night that would be deemed, by all standards, one fit for a classic horror movie, such a thing the girl thought she was in when a large shadow loomed behind her upon the white light striking through her room.
"AGH!" She yelled, jumping up and sprinting to the other side of her bed, her eyes large and round, fear making the hair on her arms stand on edge. "W-What the hell are you?"
The entity was huge.
It resembled a human, but it was clear it was not. It had a skeletal-like figure, one leg bent in a limp as it approached, its jagged mouth turned upward as if grinning. Its bright red eyes seemed to pierce through the darkness staring right at her. Its spiked hair moved with each step it took, the red tie used as a headband keeping it in place. The large coat it was wearing folded along a spiked object that drug across the ground, the glint of several curved blade soon making it apparent it was a mace of some kind.
Fear coursed through her veins.
Never in her life had she been more scared than she was in that moment.
This... is death.
I'm looking at death."Tell me!" She managed to spit out again, her shaking form plastered against the wall next to her door. "What are you!?"
Its bones cracking, the entity straightened upward as it uttered in a raspy voice, "I am the Shinigami, Edu. That notebook belonged to me before I dropped it into the Human World. I must say, I'm quite pleased you've written this many names down."
"A... Shinigami?" (Y/N) exhaled in disbelief, running both hands through her tangled hair. "As in... a God of Death?"
"That's right."
So...
I was right.
This is death.
But...
"Then... that means Kira must have had contact with a Shinigami as well!"
"Kira... you say?" Edu hummed at her words, his grip on his staff loosening so he could take another step forward, the action making her snap her neck up in surprise. "It's interesting you would mention his name upon seeing me."
"Why?" She questioned, her eyes narrowing whilst her suspicions festered.
"That name... I'm familiar with it," Edu spoke, his deep voice lowering as he took a seat on her bed, the mattress squeaking from his weight. "Yes... I've heard that story before—a story of a human named Light Yagami who donned the name Kira and set to be the God of the New World."
