"If I may ask, Mrs. (L/N)," Agent Gevanni turned to Mio, a pleasant smile on his face that hid the true nature of his intentions. "Do you mind if I could talk to your daughter alone? This is a very official process, you see."

"Of course," Mio gave a small bow before excusing herself from the room.

"With that said, I suggest we take this conversation upstairs," (Y/N) suggested as she approached the staircase, stopping only to turn around and face Agent Gevanni again. "Mr. Gevanni, I truth there are no problem with that suggestion?"

His stare hardened, as did hers.

"No," he responded bluntly.

"Good," she hummed, leading the way.

This man... he works for L.

Guess I was right.

Edu chuckled as he watched (Y/N) and Agent Gevanni silently walk up the stairs towards her room, finding it amusing how only one was aware of his presence while the other was not. When the door shut behind (Y/N) and the Agent, Edu phased through the door to stand in the corner, able to practically feel the stifling tenacity of unbridled suspicion and contempt that lay splintering in the air.

"So... what does someone from the Kira investigation want with me?" (Y/N) began after sitting down at her desk, Agent Gevanni choosing to remain standing so he could flick his gaze around the room, as if trying in vain to spot something out of the ordinary. "I'm sure other students aren't being directly interrogated, are they? Or is that just a vain assumption on my part?"

"No, not necessarily," Gevanni announced as he moved closer to her, removing a hidden tablet from his suit's pocket. "I would like you to look at this and tell me what you think."

She glanced down at the screen.

Then, she froze.

Staring at the screen with no emotion, she watched as a figure—as she—stood over a man with a knife in her hand, the grin on her face almost psychotic. The victim had his hand pressed tightly to his throat as blood leaked from the stab wound that was inflicted. (Y/N) lifted her chin, her eyes narrowing as she stared into Gevanni's eyes.

"So..." she hummed, the atmosphere in the room suddenly getting a lot darker. "Care to explain to me the meaning of this video?"

"I think you know exactly what it means," he stated curtly as he removed the device from her sight to slide back into his coat's pocket. "We know that you're the one whom is responsible for the killings of various criminals—the commonality between them all being a single stab wound to the neck, severing the external and internal carotid artery to let them bleed to death, just as what was displayed in that video you just watched."

(Y/N) merely smirked at his words.

"I do not advise you to take this situation so lightly, Miss (L/N)," he declared, his irritation from her lack of care clearly obvious in how his brow ticked. "I have every right to arrest you right here, right now."

"Then do it," she exclaimed.

The two stared at each other after the last word died on her lips. In an instant, she pinned him to the bed with a knife to his throat while he pulled a gun from its holster to press against her stomach.

"Assaulting an officer, Miss (L/N)?" He spat as he grit his teeth, digging the barrel of his gun further into her side.

"What do you want, dog?" She hissed, and in response to his gun, letting the tip of her knife drag across his skin to slice a thin cut where metal met flesh. "I'm assuming you came here for a reason, yeah? Like you said, as soon as you saw me in Hadano, you could have arrested me right then and there, so what's with the formality? What does L gain by coming on to me through you all so... sickeningly nice like this?"

"If you would so kindly lower your weapon, I'll tell you all about why I'm here," Gevanni grunted with clear disdain.

Narrowing her eyes, (Y/N) contemplated his offer, searching for any hint of a lie on his expression but finding nothing. Easing away from him, she placed the knife on her desk before sitting back down in her chair. Since she still sat close enough to the weapon to grab it, Gevanni merely let his gun rest on his lap instead of retreating it to the holster at his side.

"I don't agree with L at all in terms of what he wants to do with you," he began, his eyes hardening. "But to catch Kira's Successor, he thinks we need someone like them."

"Excuse me?" She laughed, almost condescendingly so. "'Someone like Kira's Successor? And, what? You think that's me?"

"After what was shown in the video?" He sighed, obviously annoyed. "Yes."

(Y/N) clicked her tongue, finding it almost ironic how this man who worked under L to catch Kira's Successor—who was her—was trying to encourage her to join said man and his group.

"This is getting very interesting," Edu commented with a chuckle, observing the man that sat across from (Y/N), his red eyes sparking with intrigue that was almost dangerous in appearance. "L wants a criminal to catch a criminal. Isn't it fun how your's and Light's stories are almost one and the same now? I'm truly enjoying this little twist in our game here now."

(Y/N) sighed.

Edu... he's right.

It is strange how my situation and Light's are almost the same.

It's like...

Her head snapped up, locking gazes with Gevanni as an idea flashed through her mind from both her wonderings and what Edu was saying.

L knows.

He was there.

He knew Light's situation exactly because he was the one that finished solving the case.

He already knows that I'm Kira's Successor.

He just wants to play me for the fool.

Funny.

You almost got me there, L.

"As you wish," (Y/N) gave Gevanni a serpentine smiled as she held her hands up in a mocking way of peace. "If that is what L truly desires, then I have no qualms in doing what he says."
