This is... quite interesting.

A week or so after (Y/N) had picked up the Death Note, and a week after she had met Edu, the Shinigami attached to said journal, people were finally starting to notice how criminals were dropping like flies due to heart attacks—events exactly like what happened with Kira previously.

"This is horrible," Mio commented as she spooned herself and (Y/N) soup to complement that day's breakfast.

"What is?" She hummed.

"I'm sure you remember Kira since you so avidly followed the case, but now..." Mio trailed off, her brows furrowing as worry flit across her expression. "...criminals are dying exactly how they did almost five years ago. It honestly frightens me that someone with the same kind of ability and goals as the prior Kira has risen up and claimed the role of their predecessor."

I couldn't have said it better myself, mom.

Giving Mio a small smile, (Y/N) quickly ate her food, set her dishes in the sink, and then sling her bag onto her shoulder before walking down the hall towards the door. Passing several picture frames that contained four individuals posing for the camera, she slipped her shoes on and gave one last wave back to her mother before closing the door behind her, shoving her hands in her pockets and walking the familiar route to school.

"It seems people are becoming invested in you," Edu commented as he limped beside her, his staff dragging on the ground behind him.

"They have to," she smirked, whispering lowly so that no one passing by her would think she were talking to herself. "Think about it—killings like those of Kira's are unique, brutal, fear-inducing."

Honestly, I'm surprised it took as long as a week.

But if anything, I'm sure people wanted to bury the idea of another killer like Kira.

But, I'm not like Light.

I won't kill the innocent just because they stand against me, nor will I become involved in those wanting to catch me.

It's exactly what led to his downfall.

"Tell me something, Edu," (Y/N) finally spoke up again after silence had settled between them. "No one but the user of the Death Note can see a Shinigami, but what about other users?"

"No," he shook his head, bending down until his head was almost level with hers. "The only way a human whose picked up a Death Note can tell if another human is also a user is if they make the Shinigami eye deal and are not able to see the current lifespan of the holder."

"'Shinigami eye deal?'"

"I see that has caught your interest, but what catches my own is why you asked such a question."

"I will only answer your question if you answer mine," she shook her head lightly, watching as Edu exhaled and straightened up.

"Do you know the difference between Shinigami and humans?" Edu hummed, his grin stretching wide. "Whenever we look at a human, we can immediately tell what their name is along with their current lifespan. The only reason we take the lives of humans is because we, ourselves, are scared to die, and killing that human will add their remaining lifespan to ours. But no matter how many names you write, your lifespan will not increase. The Shinigami eyes deal is where you can have this power, in exchange for your remaining lifespan."

(Y/N)'s frown deepened.

My... remaining lifespan?

Glaring up at him, she dismissed his words, knowing for a fact she wouldn't take such a deal.

I want to see the fruition of my hard work where the world is free from injustice and only people who lead good lives and commit good deeds live.

I can't die in the middle.

"Now, it's your turn," Edu spoke up, breaking her chain of thoughts.

"I only asked the question because I believe the Japanese Task Force, along with L's successor, have a notebook," she proclaimed as she slowed to a stop, waiting for the small hand above the crosswalk to turn to a person.

"Is that so?"

"Mm," she nodded, once again beginning to walk, keeping pace with the throng of people that had gathered and crossed with her, keeping her head down and lips screwed shut to slide her gaze from left to right to make sure no one was listening in. "I'm almost one-hundred percent positive that L's successor faced Kira in a final attempt at pinning him for his crimes, and at the time, the Japanese Task Force must have obtained a journal by that point."

"...It must have been Gelus' notebook."

"Who's that?"

"He was a Shinigami that fell in love with a human, and died when writing down the person's name who would have been responsible for her death," he murmured, his deep voice seeming to melt even deeper. "I've found out from Ryuk... that that is the only way to kill a Shinigami."

"So... I'm guessing this human was involved with Light Yagami?" She questioned.

"Yes, her name was Misa Amane."

"Wait," (Y/N) faced Edu with wide eyes. "You're saying that the Second Kira was Misa Amane?"

"She was a holder of a Death Note until her love for Light Yagami, something she held onto even in his death, made her also wish for the same."

(Y/N) sighed.

How... bittersweet.

The suicide of such a young, talented girl... was all because of love. I'm guessing Light didn't return that love, consumed only with the notion of becoming a God.

He ruined so many lives.

I have to do better than him.

No... I will do better than him.

"Edu..." (Y/N) lifted her (E/C) gaze from the grey cement, having stopped only because she was only a few feet from the iron gates of her school, her lips pulling upward into a smile. "Just you wait. You'll get the entertainment that you came here for."
