__________________________________Walking into her room after a rather successful day at school, (Y/N) grinned when knowing what was to happen next. Since she had introduced Ayako to Arata, he was forced to spend time with her that afternoon since she asked him to help her study, (Y/M) urging him to do so the only reason he accepted. He would do anything she asked.
Anything.
It's what made him an easy target for her to allow him to take the fall.
"So..." Edu hummed as he pondered over (Y/N)'s words from that morning, sitting down on her bed as she in turn sat down at her desk. "...how are you going to get Arata Hayato charged with being Kira's Successor? Surely you must have a plan?"
"Of course I do," she muttered as she set her bag down and then rolled her chair over to her bookshelf, making sure to carefully remove the Death Note so she didn't accidentally burn the house down due to her little fire trap. "Remember when Arata killed those one hundred criminals? Well... I'm about to do the same, but how about we half the number? Let's kill fifty criminals, all tonight at eleven..."
"Why eleven?"
"Why not?" She shrugged. "It'll ruin someone's sleep—that is, if L sleeps at all."
"You're cruel, you know that?"
"Interrupting one's sleep isn't cruel at all," she said as she began to look online for criminals' names and identities, making sure to pen down all sorts, no matter the scale of their crime. "It's just something for my own amusement."
"Whatever," Edu rolled his eyes that glowed in the darkness of the room. "Anyway, how does killing these criminals—what you've been doing all along—help get L to take the blame off of you?"
"It's a large number. Too large for the first Kira's Successor to kill."
"So?"
"If it happens over and over again, L will have to think again if there are two Successors or not," she smiled wickedly as she shook her head, her pen continuing to scratch against the paper. "But how to blame Arata? Maybe get him to slip up? Get him to mentions you Shinigami's or the Death Note somehow while I record our conversation?"
"So, you're going to get rid of your only ally?" Edu chuckled easily as he leaned back on her bad.
"He isn't my ally," she said as her smile faded, stopping her writing to look back at Edu with narrowed eyes. "He's a nuisance. From the very first moment we met, he's been a nuisance. I don't need him. I don't need Ayako. I don't need my parents. I don't need anybody to rid the world of its filth. Just like Light Yagami... just like Kira... I will take care of each criminal one by one until there is none left. I will be the one to complete his work. And I will make sure no one gets in my way."
"You know, ridding the world of its filth... using your partners and manipulating them to your advantage... trying to play L to be the fool..." the Shinigami ticked the list off on his fingers as he spoke, theorizing something that (Y/N) instantly picked up on. "...it's almost an exact copy of Light Yagami's character."
"He had a God complex," she muttered, resuming her writing. "He thought he ruled over humanity... that isn't like me at all. Why would I want to rule over these people? They're not worth my time."
"You might not want to rule the world... but you view humanity the same as he did."
(Y/N) exhaled through her nose at Edu constantly picking apart her's and Light's character, about ready to try and take her pen and stab it through his eye to test if human weapons really had no effect on him. But she refrained from letting her anger get the best of her, calming herself down instantly.
Edu is just a pawn in this.
An observer.
He said that he won't step in since he doesn't care what happens to us.
He just wants amusement.
Just like Ryuk.
And that's fine with me.
So for now, I'll put up with his constant nitpickings no matter how old and irritating they get.
Finally, (Y/N) finished writing down all fifty criminals' names and leaned back in her chair with a sigh, knowing that all of this work would be worth it once Near turned his suspicions toward not two, but one Successor and then pinned it on Arata. She would make sure that such an outcome would happen. Propping her head up, she thought.
To be honest, having Arata as a pawn—unfortunately, as much as I don't want to admit it—is helpful.
He was able to get rid of one agent.
Was his name Rester?
It doesn't matter.
All that matters is that we were able to pick off someone close to L.
It might cause him to do something hasty.
That would be thrilling.
Closing the notebook with a smirk, (Y/N) slid it back into its hiding place and shooed Edu off as she then got ready for bed, clicking the light off and sliding under the covers since she knew that in two hours, fifty people would die, and L and his team would scramble trying to figure out what to do.
What was even sweeter?
Before she had left Arata and Ayako that afternoon, she had pulled the boy aside to inform him not to make a move as Kira's second Successor.
It was crucial that he didn't.
While Arata obviously questioned why, she just promised him a reward later for listening to her request and he instantly complied. She found it disgusting how easy it was to get him to listen to her, but she chose to revel in it rather than reject it. For her plans, him being amenable to her behest was more good than bad.
Closing her eyes, the (E/C) color having shone in the darkness, she went to sleep confident.
And she had every reason to be.
