Task #53: Best Draught of Peace potion
Quiet tension filled the table of six Slytherins. They had been paired in two's, each pair stationed around the joined tables. Blaise and Davina were paired together, leaving Theo with Daphne and, of course, Ivy and Draco.
The potions lesson was meant to be spent working in pairs to create a draft of a Draught of Peace potion. No one but the competitive two were taking it seriously. Snape had kept his watchful, beady eyes on them from afar, noticing something different in their behaviour.
Draco had been very quick and somewhat careless with making his potion, eyes more focused on Ivy's cauldron.
Ivy had managed to remain calm and collected, focusing on brewing her potion correctly. Potions had always come naturally to her.
"You know I'm gonna win, right?" The green eyed girl spoke up as she mixed the cauldron, not even glancing at the boy.
The blond scoffed, "What makes you so sure of that?"
"I'm a Potter," She finally glanced at him. "Exceeding in potions practically runs in my blood, I've learnt."
It was true, both her parents were very talented at potions and her aunt Ophelia wanted to take it seriously as a career, like Ivy's grandfather Fleamont who was a famous Potioneer.
"My bets on Ivy," Blaise whispered.
"It should be, Ivy's really talented at potions. She always has been," Davina quietly but enthusiastically admitted.
"Yeah, but so's Draco," Daphne reminded her friends. "He didn't have all those hours of tutoring before Hogwarts for nothing. He's got years of experience on her."
"I don't know," Theo squinted his eyes. "I want to root for my boy, but the logical part of me's saying Ivy's going to win."
"Wait, win this round or the whole game?" Davina asked.
"This round," Theo clarified. "It's obvious who's going to win the whole bet."
"Who?" Daphne frowned, not finding it obvious.
"Draco," Blaise told the girls. "Look at him, he's obsessed with her. The bet was all a ruse, an excuse to flirt and spend time with her. And now that it's working, he's determined to win, so in the end, she'll be dancing in his arms."
They watched as Draco sneakily tried messing with Ivy's ingredients without her noticing.
"Quite the genius when you think about it," Theo nodded.
They watched Ivy slap his hand away and scold him.
"Well, sometimes."
"Yeah, but Ivy's also determined," Davina interrupted. "She doesn't want to lose to him, I don't think she wants to be his date either. She has the ability to win and I think she's just as determined to win, too."
