The following day, Y/N arrived at Tomioka Industries with a sense of determination. She had made up her mind to focus solely on her work, despite the lingering unease from the previous night's overheard conversation. However, as the day unfolded, she quickly realised that she would need more than just determination to navigate the complexities of her new role.
Just as she settled in at her desk and began organizing the day's agenda for Giyuu, the door to her office opened, and a man walked in, his presence instantly commanding attention.
"Good morning! You must be the new secretary," he said with a warm smile that immediately put Y/N at ease. He was tall, with a lean build and an air of effortless confidence. His dark hair was neatly styled, and his eyes sparkled with a mix of intelligence and mischief.
Y/N stood up, surprised by the sudden introduction. "Yes, I am. Y/N L/N," she replied, extending her hand.
He shook it with a firm but friendly grip. "Haruto Saito, head of the Research and Development Department. I've been meaning to come by and introduce myself, but it's been a bit hectic lately." He chuckled softly, as if they were sharing an inside joke.
Y/N returned his smile, feeling a sense of relief at his easygoing demeanour. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Saito."
"Please, call me Haruto," he said, waving off the formalities. "And I insist that we grab a coffee together later. It's a tradition of mine to welcome new colleagues personally, especially someone working directly with Mr. Tomioka. You'll need all the support you can get, trust me."
Y/N couldn't help but laugh at his candidness. "That sounds great, thank you. I could definitely use some advice on how to survive around here."
Haruto leaned in slightly, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret. "Here's your first tip: never let Giyuu catch you staring at him too long. He'll start thinking you're plotting something."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, but then she noticed the playful twinkle in Haruto's eyes and realised he was joking. She couldn't help but laugh again, feeling the tension in her shoulders ease. Haruto's light-hearted approach was a welcome change from the intense atmosphere she had been experiencing since her first day.
As they continued to chat, Haruto quickly made her feel comfortable. He was charming, with a natural ability to connect with people, and Y/N found herself liking him almost instantly. His friendly demeanour was a stark contrast to Giyuu's cold and distant manner, and it was refreshing to have someone in the company who was so approachable.
"I'll let you get back to work," Haruto said eventually, glancing at the stack of papers on her desk. "But don't forget about that coffee. I'll come by your office later, and we can head to the café downstairs."
"I'm looking forward to it," Y/N replied with a smile.
As Haruto left her office, Y/N couldn't help but feel grateful for his kindness. It was clear that he was well-liked within the company, and she was relieved to have made a connection with someone who could help her navigate the complexities of her job.
The morning passed quickly as Y/N threw herself into her work, determined to keep up with Giyuu's demanding schedule. She made sure all the documents were in order for his meetings and ensured that his calendar was meticulously organized. Despite Giyuu's cold demeanour, Y/N was committed to proving herself, and she knew that excelling in her role was the best way to do so.
True to his word, Haruto showed up at Y/N's office just before lunchtime, a smile on his face as he leaned against the door frame. "Ready for that coffee break?"
Y/N looked up from her computer and nodded, grateful for the chance to step away from her desk. "Definitely. Let's go."
They made their way down to the café on the ground floor, where Haruto seemed to know everyone. He greeted the Batista by name, exchanged pleasantries with a few other employees who were also taking their lunch breaks, and even managed to charm a group of interns who were sitting at a nearby table.
