The next morning, Y/N arrived at the office a little earlier than usual, her mind still lingering on her conversation with Haruto the day before. She was determined to make progress on her work, especially after Giyuu had hinted that he expected nothing less than perfection. The responsibility weighed heavily on her, but she was eager to prove herself capable, especially after the initial days had been such a whirlwind.

After settling into her desk, Y/N began the tedious task of organizing the documents she had received from various departments. Most of it was routine—schedules, reports, and correspondence that needed to be sorted and filed. She worked methodically, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she categorised the files on her computer, ensuring everything was in its proper place.

It was during this process that she stumbled upon a folder she hadn’t noticed before. It was buried deep within the directory, its name vague and unassuming: "Project Data." Curious, Y/N clicked on it, expecting to find more standard documents.

What she found instead made her pause. Inside the folder was a series of files, each one labelled with a code that made no immediate sense to her. The names were short—just a few letters and numbers strung together in what seemed like a random sequence. There were no descriptions or notes to explain what the files contained, just these cryptic titles.

Frowning, Y/N clicked on one of the files, hoping for more information. But instead of opening, a prompt appeared on the screen, asking for an encryption key. It was clear that whatever was in these files was protected, hidden behind layers of security that Y/N didn’t have access to.

A sense of unease settled over her as she stared at the screen. This wasn’t just ordinary company data—whatever was in these files was something that someone didn’t want just anyone to see. The conversation she had overheard between Giyuu and the other official about "delivery routes" and "the package" flashed through her mind, and she felt a knot form in her stomach.

What exactly was going on at Tomioka Industries?

Before she could think too much about it, the sound of footsteps approaching her office caught her attention. Y/N quickly minimised the window, her heart racing slightly as she turned to see Haruto standing in the doorway, his usual smile in place.

“Good morning, Y/N,” he greeted, his tone as warm and friendly as ever. “How’s everything going?”

Y/N forced a smile, still feeling a bit shaken by what she had just discovered. “Good morning, Haruto. Just trying to stay on top of things. It’s a lot to manage.”

Haruto stepped further into the office, his eyes sweeping over her desk, taking in the organised chaos of papers and folders. “It certainly looks like you’re handling it well. Mr. Tomioka is lucky to have someone as capable as you.”

Y/N’s smile wavered slightly as she nodded. “Thanks, I’m trying my best.”

There was a moment of silence as Haruto’s gaze lingered on her, and Y/N couldn’t help but feel that he was studying her, assessing something she couldn’t quite identify. Then, as if sensing her discomfort, he glanced at the computer screen, where the minimised folder still sat.

“What’s this?” he asked casually, gesturing toward the screen.

Y/N hesitated, unsure of how to respond. “Oh, just some files I came across while organizing the documents. I couldn’t open them—they’re encrypted.”

Haruto’s expression didn’t change, but there was a subtle shift in his demeanour, something that Y/N couldn’t quite put her finger on. “Encrypted files?” he repeated, his tone carefully neutral.
