As Giyuu and Haruto clashed, the sound of metal ringing through the air, Y/N struggled against the chains that bound her to the wall. Her wrists were raw from the effort, but her determination was stronger. She could hear every word exchanged between the two men—the betrayal, the anger, the years of resentment laid bare—and it filled her with desperation.

She spotted something glinting on the ground. Amidst the chaos, a guard who had been killed earlier had dropped his weapon, and it lay just out of reach. Her heart pounded in her chest as she stretched her leg, her foot nudging the gun toward her inch by inch.

She finally managed to hook her foot around it, pulling it closer. With a final burst of effort, she kicked the gun upward, catching it in her hand despite the restraints that still held her in place. Her aim was shaky, but there was no time to hesitate.

But just as Haruto raised his blade, the sound of a gunshot echoed through the room.

Haruto froze.

"Y/N..." Haruto muttered, his voice full of disbelief as he clutched his wounded arm. His eyes were wide, filled with a mix of shock and something else—hurt.

Y/N's grip on the gun tightened, her body trembling as she struggled to steady herself. "Don't make me do this, Haruto," she whispered, her voice breaking with emotion. "Don't make me shoot you again."

For a moment, everything seemed to freeze. Giyuu remained on the ground, catching his breath, while Haruto stared at Y/N with an unreadable expression. The air was thick with tension, the weight of betrayal hanging between them like a storm about to break.

"Why, Haruto?" Y/N's voice wavered as she finally spoke, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "We trusted you. I trusted you. How could you do this to us?"

Haruto's face twisted in pain, not just from the wound, but from something deeper. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. For the first time since his betrayal had been revealed, he looked uncertain, as though the reality of his actions was finally crashing down on him.

"I never wanted this," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I didn't want it to end like this. But... you don't understand, Y/N. I was always in Giyuu's shadow. Always the one left behind, the one who wasn't good enough. And you... you were always there for him, never for me."

Y/N's heart ached at his words. She could see the years of resentment, the jealousy that had festered inside Haruto until it consumed him. But it didn't justify what he had done. It didn't excuse the lives he had endangered, or the trust he had shattered.

"You could've talked to us, Haruto," Y/N said, her voice soft but filled with sadness. "You didn't have to betray us. We could've helped you."

Haruto let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "Help me? No one could help me, Y/N. Not after what I've done. There's no going back now."

The room was silent, save for the ragged breathing of the three of them. Giyuu slowly got to his feet, his eyes locked on Haruto. Despite everything, despite the betrayal, there was no hatred in Giyuu's gaze—only sorrow.

"This isn't the end yet, Haruto," Giyuu said, his voice calm but firm. "You can still make things right. We can take down this operation together. You don't have to follow this path any longer."

Haruto's eyes flickered with doubt for the briefest of moments. But then, his expression hardened once more. "It's too late, Giyuu. Too much has happened."

Before anyone could react, the enemy leader—who had been watching the entire exchange in amused silence—took advantage of the distraction. With a swift motion, he raised his gun, aiming directly at Y/N.

"No!" Giyuu shouted, lunging forward.

But Haruto was faster.

In a split second, Haruto moved, positioning himself in front of Y/N, his body acting as a shield. The gunshot rang out, echoing through the room, and Haruto gasped as the bullet hit him square in the chest.

Y/N screamed as Haruto collapsed to the ground, blood pooling beneath him. Giyuu rushed to her side, but her focus was entirely on Haruto, her eyes wide with shock and horror.

"Haruto!" she cried, kneeling beside him. Tears streamed down her face as she pressed her hands to his wound, trying to stop the bleeding, but it was no use. The wound was fatal.

Haruto coughed, blood staining his lips as he looked up at Y/N. His eyes were filled with regret, but also a strange sense of peace. "I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I'm sorry for everything."

Y/N sobbed, shaking her head. "No, Haruto, please... don't leave us. Don't leave me."

But it was too late. Haruto's breathing grew shallow, his eyes fluttering shut. In his final moments, he reached up, his hand weakly grasping Y/N's.

"I never wanted to hurt you," he murmured, his voice fading. "I loved you... but I was always too late."

And with that, Haruto's hand went limp, his body stilling as the life left him.

Y/N collapsed into sobs, her heart breaking for the man who had once been her friend, the man whose jealousy and pain had driven him to betray them all. Giyuu stood behind her, his own heart heavy with grief. He knelt beside her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, but there were no words that could ease the pain of this moment.

The enemy leader, sensing his advantage slipping, attempted to flee. But Giyuu, fuelled by both rage and sorrow, swiftly moved to intercept him. In a quick, deadly exchange, Giyuu disarmed and incapacitated the leader, ensuring that the man would face justice for everything he had done.

But the victory felt hollow.

As Giyuu turned back to Y/N, who was still kneeling beside Haruto's lifeless body, he knew that nothing would ever be the same. The betrayal, the loss, and the shattered trust—they had all paid a heavy price.

And as the silence of the battlefield settled around them, the weight of that loss pressed down on them both, leaving them to wonder if they would ever truly recover from the scars Haruto had left behind.
