The car ride to Giyuu's house was quiet, the weight of everything that had happened still lingering between them like an unspoken shadow. Y/N sat in the passenger seat, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery, but her mind was elsewhere—tangled in a web of memories she didn't want to relive. She couldn't stop thinking about the events that had led her here, to this unfamiliar moment. The betrayal. Haruto. The kidnapping. It was all too much, and she wasn't sure how to process it.
When they arrived at Giyuu's house, Y/N felt a strange mix of trepidation and relief. The house was tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, a large, modern structure that exuded a sense of calm. Its clean lines and simple design mirrored Giyuu's personality—understated but strong. The exterior was painted a muted gray, blending in with the surrounding trees and the soft evening light.
Giyuu unlocked the door and pushed it open, stepping aside to let Y/N in first. She hesitated for a moment, then crossed the threshold into a space that was surprisingly warm despite its minimalist decor. The living room was spacious, with dark wooden floors and large windows that let in the fading daylight. A few pieces of furniture—a leather sofa, a glass coffee table, and a bookshelf—were arranged with precision, each item carefully chosen for function rather than flair.
"This way," Giyuu said quietly, leading her up a short flight of stairs to the second floor.
Y/N followed him, her footsteps light on the hardwood floors. He stopped in front of a door at the end of the hallway and opened it, revealing a bedroom.
"This is your room," he said, stepping aside to let her in.
The room was simple but cosy. A queen-sized bed with a soft, cream-coloured duvet sat against one wall, and a small night stand with a lamp stood beside it. A window faced the backyard, where the trees swayed gently in the evening breeze. The walls were painted a soft blue-gray, a calming colour that contrasted with the turmoil in Y/N's mind.
Y/N set her bag down at the foot of the bed, feeling strangely detached from the surrounding space. It was beautiful, but it wasn't hers. It felt like she was floating in someone else's life, unable to ground herself in the reality of her own.
"If you need anything, my room is right next door," Giyuu said softly, gesturing to the room across the hall. "You can knock, or just come in. I don't mind."
Y/N nodded, offering him a small, tired smile. "Thank you, Giyuu."
He gave her a brief, almost awkward nod before retreating to his own room, leaving her alone in the quiet space.
Y/N sat on the edge of the bed, her hands resting in her lap. The room was peaceful, but the silence pressed in on her, amplifying the thoughts that swirled in her mind. She felt like a stranger in her own skin, lost in the echoes of everything she had been through.
As night fell, Y/N found herself tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, her mind replayed the events of the past weeks—the kidnapping, the betrayal, Haruto's death. The grief was like a weight pressing down on her chest, suffocating her. She had tried to hold it together, tried to be strong, but now, in the quiet of Giyuu's house, the walls she had built around herself began to crack.
She finally gave up on trying to sleep and slipped out of bed, the cool floor beneath her feet grounding her for a moment. She needed air, something to clear her head, to stop the endless cycle of thoughts that was driving her mad.
Y/N opened the door and quietly made her way to the balcony at the end of the hallway. The cold night air hit her as soon as she stepped outside, and for a brief moment, the shock of it cleared her mind. She leaned against the railing, staring out at the darkened sky, the stars scattered above like tiny pinpricks of light.
