Y/N stretched, feeling the weight of exhaustion still lingering in her body. The previous night had been long and sleepless, her mind running in circles, wrestling with thoughts of Giyuu and everything that had happened in the past weeks. She had spent hours questioning her decisions, her emotions, and the future that lay ahead. Now, as the sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room, she felt drained yet strangely calm. It was as if a decision had been made, even if she hadn't fully acknowledged it.
Rubbing her eyes, Y/N sat up in bed, her thoughts slowly coming into focus. She glanced at the clock, expecting to feel the familiar rush of panic when she realised she was late for work. But the house was unusually quiet, and there was no sign of movement from Giyuu's room. Frowning, she swung her legs over the side of the bed and padded down the hallway toward the kitchen, where she expected to find him preparing for another busy day.
Instead, she found Giyuu sitting at the table, casually sipping a cup of tea, still dressed in his loungewear. There was no briefcase in sight, no signs of him rushing to get ready.
"You're not going to work today?" Y/N asked, her voice slightly groggy from the lack of sleep.
Giyuu looked up, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "It's Sunday."
Y/N blinked in surprise. Sunday? She had completely lost track of the days. It was as if time had blended together, one chaotic moment after another, leaving her disoriented and disconnected from the usual rhythm of her life.
"Oh," she murmured, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I... I didn't realise."
Giyuu's expression softened, and he set his cup down gently on the table. "You've been through a lot," he said quietly, his gaze meeting hers with understanding. "It's easy to lose track of things when everything feels overwhelming."
Y/N nodded, appreciating his calm reassurance. Despite his typically stoic nature, there was something comforting about the way he acknowledged her turmoil without pushing her to explain or justify it. He simply understood, in his own quiet way.
"I was thinking," Giyuu began, his tone more casual now, "maybe we could take a break today. Do something different."
Y/N tilted her head, curiosity piqued. "Different?"
Giyuu stood up, gesturing for her to follow him as he led her down the hallway toward a room she hadn't yet seen. When he opened the door, Y/N's eyes widened in surprise. It was a home theatre—cosy, warm, and inviting. The room was already prepared with soft blankets draped over the couches, pillows scattered around, and even a few stuffed animals placed on the seats. It felt like a sanctuary, a space meant for comfort and relaxation, far removed from the tense, dangerous world they had been navigating for so long.
Giyuu glanced at her, a rare, small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I figured we could watch something... normal. Something to take your mind off things."
Y/N couldn't help but smile in return, touched by the gesture. "That sounds... perfect."
They settled into the plush seating, Y/N wrapping herself in one of the blankets as Giyuu selected a movie. The room dimmed, and the screen flickered to life. It was a simple, lighthearted film—nothing too intense, just the kind of distraction Y/N hadn't realised she needed. She relaxed into the warmth of the blanket, her body slowly unwinding from the tension that had been gripping her for days.
As the movie played, Y/N occasionally glanced at Giyuu, who sat beside her with an unusual sense of ease. It wasn't often that she saw him this relaxed, this at peace. The weight of their shared history seemed to lift, even if only for a brief moment, as they allowed themselves to just be together without the burdens of the outside world pressing in.
