I turned to face who is calling me.

Anji....

"Anj" I forced a smile as she made her way to me.

"Sabi ko na nga ba, dito kita mahahanap." she sat beside me and starts playing with the sand.

"Penny for your thoughts?" she called for my attention.



   
 

"Nothing...nagpapababa lang ng alcohol." I pulled my knees closer to me and hugged it.

We sat there for a few minutes. Silently watching the waves as it roars on the shore.

"Did you two talk na?"

"She tried, Anj. But I can't....natakot ako." I let out a deep sigh and rested my chin on my knees.

"You know what, kaya mo yan. The Mikha I know is brave. Yes, you cried many times. You're fragile, takot kang mabasag muli but I know you'll handle this, Mikhs." she paused as she rested her head on my shoulder. "Talk to her."

 

"Thanks, Anj. For never leaving my side." I nudged her and that made her chuckle.

"You know what, ang swerte ng magiging partner mo. Napaka haba ng patience mo. The way you cared for the people you love, nakakamangha."

"Sus, nambola na naman ang isang Mikha Lim. Pero...seryoso ako Mikhs. Yung sinabi ko sayo before ako bumalik dito, na hihintayin kitang maging okay. I'll still wait, gusto ko lang malaman mo na handa kitang saluhin. I love you and will always love you, Mikha Lim." she tried to held my hand but I subtly avoided it, making sure it will not hurt her feelings.

"I love you too, Anj"

"Mahal kita bilang kaibigan and I'm so sorry kung hanggang yun lang ang makakaya ko. Pilitin ko man, isang tao lang ang alam itibok nitong puso ko."

"I want to say sorry din....alam kong hindi maganda ang iniwan mong memory sa Hawaii bago ka nag decide na bumalik dito. I'm sorry I snapped on that day. I just can't bear to see you wasting your time on me kaya tinaboy kita. I'm not the right person to receive your unconditional love. And I don't want to lose you too, Anj. Naging parte ka ng buhay ko, ng pag bangon ko. You, Deej and Kath, I owe you guys my life. Kung hindi dahil sa inyo, hindi na siguro ako naka balik sa katinuan. I consider you as my family so please, can I have my bestfriend back?"

Anji pulled me for a hug and as I felt her little sobs, I gently break it to see her face. 

"Huy! Wag ka na umiyak." I teases her as I held her shoulder and gently shook her.

She jokingly laughed while wiping her tears "Ikaw kasi eh, three times mo na akong binasted. Kainis ka na ha!"

We both laughed as she playfully hit me in the head.

 
This is what I liked about Anj, she can be straightforward with what she thinks or feel but her way of thinking amazed me on how she can handle all of this very well ---- not making it awkward or ano pa dyan. She can make anything light just by laughing it off.
