Sophia went back to her dad's house the second she heard Walker's window close.
She made sure to leave a note on her kitchen table before she left, for her mom to see.
'Had to leave before dad came here looking for me. I promise to be careful, and I know that we can figure this out. Love you so so much, see you soon <3'
It wasn't much, but she figured it would suffice. She also took a few things from home back with her. Some clothes, a few books, and the bracelet. She just couldn't leave the bracelet.
Her dad was sitting on the couch when she got back. She expected more yelling, or maybe a bit of colorful language, but all he gave her was silence. It was like he she wasn't even there. No eye contact, no answering questions, no asking where she was going, nothing.
She loved it.
The next day was Saturday, so that meant walking dogs for hours on end. She didn't mind though, she was getting paid and the fresh air was nice.
She took her usual path: a couple loops around the park, up and down Main Street, then back to the owner's house. She had done this twice already, and she was just now ringing the doorbell for her third costumer. They were new to her.The door opened, and a pair of pigtails stuck out just below the door handle. The little girls wide blue eyes looked up at her.
"Bridgie! She's here!"
A few seconds later the door swung all the way open, and the little girl was picked up and balanced on the hip of her older sister. An older sister that looked very familiar. She was reaching back into her pocket for money, not paying much attention.
"Vivian you're not supposed to answer the door, remember? Sorry, how much do we owe you again-?"
"Bridgette?"
The blonde paused, looking up at the girl on her doorstep. She seemed shell shocked. "Sophia? Since when are you back in town? And walking dogs?"
Bridgette was stumbling over her words, still fumbling in her pocket for money. She shoved a $10 bill into Sophia's hand.
Sophia shrugged, trying hard not to glare at the bleach blonde. "Uh, since I had to move back and-"
Bridgette set her sister down before waving her further into the house, whipping back around to Sophia.
"Yeah shush shush nevermind, hold that thought." She stepped out onto the porch, clicking the door closed behind her. Her usual mean girl demeanor was gone, and she seemed frazzled, like her ego had deflated drastically. Bridgette crossed her arms across her chest to combat the chill.
"Did you get my messages?"
