No. What? The minute Sophia locked eyes with her, Bridgette's whole demeanor changed. Relief and confusion simultaneously flooded her features.
She stood from the table, and a tall glass of water that had been sitting in front of her was knocked on its side.
Archer made a noise of unease.
Bridgette reached for her hand. "Oh thank god, I was so worried, how did you get-"
"Don't touch me." Sophia pulled away, anger building up inside her as she glanced between the two of them.
Bridgette tried again. "Sophia-"
"I said don't fucking touch me!"
The accused girl held her palms out defensively, like Sophia was a ticking time bomb. "Okay okay. We're going to sound insane...but you have to let us explain."
"There's nothing to explain." Sophia shot back. "You're with Archer? Really?"
Bridgette's brows furrowed. "Wait...you know his name?"
Archer attempted to cut in. "Hold on, let's just sit down and-"
"No, let's not." Sophia cut him off.
She didn't know why, but suddenly, she felt invincible. Maybe it was her newfound anger towards Bridgette, or just everything inside of her unraveling at once, but she didn't mind.
She brandished the vase threateningly.
"Tell me what the hell is going on, or I won't hesitate to smash this over both of your heads. Multiple times. With all the sharp broken edges."
Bridgette stepped back, obviously attempting to defuse the situation. "Okay, alright. Just listen to me."
"Fine. I'm listening."
The blonde took a deep breath, choosing her words carefully. "Archer reached out to me about a month ago through an insta DM saying he had seen my old comment on your New Year's Eve post. He said he had something he needed to share with somebody close to you."
"Uh, but he doesn't." Sophia stated incredulously, still grasping the vase with both hands.
She saw Bridgette's brows furrow slightly before glancing to Archer. He only shook his head slightly, like Sophia didn't understand something just yet.
Bridgette continued. "It's just...he told me he ran into you at a Halloween party. That you two had talked, and gotten to know each other a bit."
Sophia scoffed. "Oh yeah, we met. It was very memorable."
There was a lull in the conversation, like Bridgette really didn't want to say what was coming next. Sophia urged her on impatiently.
"Okay, and?"
Unexpectedly, tears brimmed Bridgette's eyes, words finally rushing out. "He said he saw everything. And you may not remember because you were under the influence but-"
"Remember what?"
"Archer told me he saw Walker drug you at that Halloween party."
