————————————————————————
~ Walker's POV ~
——————————————————————(2 weeks ago...)
The movie premiere with Sophia was in less than an hour. So obviously, I was losing my mind.
"I wish Leah could help you with this." Aryan grumbled as he tried to fix my curls. "She's way better at it than I am."
"I can do it myself, Aryan." I jerked away from him, grabbing the comb from his hand. He put his hands on his hips in obvious annoyance.
"You don't even have your shirt buttoned, man."
I wasn't looking at him, my tongue sticking out of the corner of my mouth in an attempt to focus on fixing my hair. "Yeah yeah, in a sec."
But Aryan shook his head, stealing the comb back.
"Okay, well maybe I'm not as good at hair as Leah is, but I am way better than you. So could you just let me work and button your own shirt?"
I rolled my eyes, doing what he asked as he went back to attacking my hair. I rolled the cuffs of my shirt in a way that looked halfway presentable.
Making eye contact with Aryan through the mirror, I was conscious of my stomach tying itself into a dozen knots as I pulled at the collar of my shirt.
"Is this too much, or not enough? The plain black suit is kind of boring..." My eyes widened. "What if Soph doesn't like it?"
Aryan sighed, an exasperated smile playing on his face. "Walker it's fine-"
"No, seriously." I spun around, and he jerked the comb back so he didn't stab me in the eye. "What if she has on like, a crazy fancy dress, and I'm over here looking like I'm from Men in Black?"
"Walker-"
"Or, what if I'm overdressed?! She could be in something super casual and then I'm gonna look like an idiot in a suit and then it'd be so embarrassing and she'd think I was stupid and playing into this whole fake dating thing way too much-"
The bathroom door flew open, Charlie standing on the other side with a stern look on his face. Aryan and I nearly jumped out of our skin.
"Okay man, one more second of this whining and I'm tossing you off the balcony."
Aryan nodded in agreement, throwing the comb down on the counter and crossing his arms. "For real, you're picking up Sophia's rambling habit."
I groaned, letting out a breath as I dragged my hands down my face.
Was all this stress even worth it? I mean...did she even like me anymore? Sure, she didn't hate me, but I didn't wanna assume. So much had happened. So much had changed.
And aside from one kiss in the heat of the moment, she'd done nothing else that showed she had feelings for me. Maybe I was too late.
Maybe I missed my chance.
But I knew tonight would be a disaster if I didn't pull myself together. It really wasn't a big deal, no need to freak out.
