The year 2941, The Third Age"You still wait for her to wake?" Lord Celeborn questions, walking up next to his wife. Standing before a bed, where a young elf lays sound asleep.
"She will wake soon if Mithrandir is to proceed with his quest to Erebor. The darkness will grow, and she will awaken to fight it, like she did long ago." Galadriel says, turning to her husband and taking his hand, leading the both of them out of the chambers of the sleeping elf. Though she looks to be an elfling, she is not as young as she seems. She had nearly faded from Middle Earth when Galadriel found her in the woods of Fangorn Forest, at the beginning of the second age. Though having nearly fully healed the elf never reawoken, but the Lady of Light has foreseen it; Naehlara will awaken to help lead the elves, men and all free folk to peace, for she is the High Queen of the elves. The only living elf from the first age.
Her fae grows stronger, as does the old darkness that once ruled the lands. And with every year as both grow she gets closer and closer to awakening. Lady Galadriel once was friends with the elf, her father Thingol; king of Doriath, before it was abandoned and forgotten as the first age elves left Middle Earth to go back to Valanor or faded. "You fear for her." Celeborn states as he watches his wife. In the safety of their chambers, she looks out the balcony over the kingdom of Lothlorien the sun setting just above the trees.
"I have longed to see my friend reawaken but how do you explain to one that nearly two ages has passed since she fell into slumber." Galadriel says, a small smile growing on her face. "She was a mighty warrior, the best in all of Middle Earth. But she was stubborn, not as wise as most elves. A lot more like our Woodland kin, the ones in Greenwood. I fear that she may attack us when she first awakes as she won't recognize anyone." Galadriel says, a laugh slipping through her lips as she remembers watching Naehlara fight in the wars long ago. How she'd argue with anyone that stood in her way, nearly taking the head off the captain of the guard when he would not heed her warning of the armies coming from Morgoth.
"We should not worry about it until she awakens." Celeborn says, putting his hand on Galadriels shoulder and leading her back to their bed. For they both longed to see the Queen awaken, they also feared the darkness that would be the cause of her awakening.
One year Later
A scream left Naehlara as she sits up right in an unfamiliar bed. Glancing around her unfamiliar surroundings. Grabbing a bowl from the nightstand she stumbles out of bed and leans against the wall by the door as she hears footsteps outside the door. Quiet and soft, the door slowly opens revealing the empty bed. Haldir slowly steps into the room, his hand on the hilt of his sword as he examines the room for the sleeping elf. Lifting the bowl up, Naehlara slams it against Haldir's head. The bowl shattering at the strength of the impact, sending Haldir stumbling forward and grabbing the back of his head as the world slightly spins.
Grabbing the sword in its sheath, Neahlara pulls it from Haldir's waist. Spinning it carefully to assess its weight in her hands before pointing it to Haldir. Looking up to the elf, his eyes widen in shock. Neahlara seemed to glow as she stood; looking like a statue with an icy glare. "Who are you?" She questions, her voice startled Haldir, it was not as smooth and calming as the Lady of Light. No, it was more demanding, commanding like a leader in war. Yet it was still beautifully calming even though he did not know of what she said. Quenya, the old elvish language of the first elves, long forgotten.
"Who are you? Speak now." She speaks again. The sound of more footsteps has her taking a step away from the door, stepping a foot back and raising the sword prepared to strike the next person that walked through the door. Seeing the Lady of Light outside the door, Haldir steps in front of Naehlara blocking her path to attack Galadriel as she was into the room.
"Lady Naehlara, put down your sword. You are not in danger." Galadriel says, a small smile spread across her face. Galadriel can't help the smile as the same fierceness she witnessed years ago still seems to emanate from Naehlara.
Naehlara watches the woman trying to place where she knows her. Slowly lowering the sword she keeps it in her grasp ready to attack if she needs. As her eyes catches Galadriels deep blue eyes she freezes. Somehow looking eve more like a statue Haldir thought. The last she saw of Galadriel was before a war. When she had a guard drag her away to keep her safe. "Lady Galadriel." She says, bowing and putting a hand to her chest, while keeping an eye on Haldir.
"Take your leave Haldir." Galadriel commands, putting her hand on his shoulder to direct him out of the room. Looking between Naehlara and Galadriel, he reluctantly bows and moves out of the room. But not straying far in case the elf decided to attack. He listened closely to the two elves in the chamber.
"What did you say to him?" Naehlara questions, as Galadriel moves to shut the door and then moving to sit on the bed in the middle of the room.
"I told him to leave. Many do not speak Quenya anymore." She explains. "Come sit, let us talk my old friend." She smiles patting the bed.
"Where am I, Galadriel?" Naehlara questions, not moving from her spot.
"Lothlorien, my home, my kingdom. You have been here for many years. Resting, you nearly faded away."
"You should have let me fade away if it was what the Valar saw fit. How long has it been?" Naehlara questions, setting the sword against the bed and sitting next to Galadriel. Her body still tense with adrenaline and worry as she noted the different close of Galadriel and how she seemed older than she last met. Not older but no long an elfling and much wiser than the last they saw of each other.
Galadriel laughs, Naehlara ever the same, always straight to the point. "Nearly two ages have passed. It is the year 2942, There is much I must fill you in on." Naehlara, felt lied to, there was no way that nearly two ages had passed since she was last awake. It was unheard of for someone to sleep that long and still live, no matter what creature they are. For weeks, Naehlara stayed with in the chamber only speaking to Galadriel as she was caught up on the past and then left to ponder on what she was told. Everything seemed unreal, fake like some game that was being played on her. Yet in the back of her mind she knew it to be true. That she was now alone in Middle Earth, her father had left for Valanor leaving her to rule and her brother to lead the armies. Galadriel had told her of how he was killed in battle only a few days after she had been found in the woods. And soon after that all elves of the first age seemed to vanish, leaving only Naehlara.
It wasn't long before Galadriel insisted that Naehlara learns Sindarin the modern language of elves. Though Naehlara detested it, sitting in a room with books and a teacher was torture for. So she took to training in the training grounds with Haldir. Wordlessly fighting as she could not understand him and he could not understand her.
It was in 2955 Lord Elrond and Mithrandir came to Lothlorien at the request of Lady Galadriel. They spoke for many hours about Naehlara and her fate, for both Lord Elrond and Lady Galadriel have foreseen parts of her future and knew her rule in the up coming war. They agreed that Naehlara would leave Lothlorien to better learn of the third age of Middle Earth, about the rings of power and of there old enemy. So they sent her with Lord Elrond to go to Imildaris to continue practicing her skills, and to learn the ways of the modern world.
A/N This really is a prologue so please give it time to grow! I'm only just learning to write in 3rd person so please give tips if you have any! Also this is in fact set in the movies of Lord of The Rings, it just starts with The Hobbit. The quest to Erebor had only just begun in the first part of the chapter and then when she awoken was the night in which Smaug was killed. Not that they necessarily knew that yet. But I hope you enjoy, leave a comment or vote to let me know you liked it!
Question of the day; Should I keep some Sindarin I know like Mellon (friend) or Melleth Nin (My Love) or just keep it translated? And should I put in the Sindarin if it was in the script and then put the meaning of it in parenthesis? Which would you prefer?
Have an amazing day my loves!
