They ran out of the tomb, "This way." Gandalf says, directing them further into the large chamber. Naehlara watched as goblins came pouring out of the roof and doors throughout the chamber. Forcing the fellowship to stop and form a circle as they are surrounded by the goblins. The creatures hissing and growling at the group. Naehlara kept her sword raised having sheathed her dagger while they ran.

A deafening roar echos through the chamber. The goblins freeze, before fleeing back into the darkness they came from. Another roar echos through the chamber, Naehlara and the rest of the fellowship looking towards the sound. The end of the chamber glowing red, blazing heat filling the chamber.

"What is this new devilry?" Boromir questions, looking to Gandalf. Gandalf closes his eyes, as a large shadow surrounded by flames crosses the back of the chamber. Naehlara froze, she knew this creature. It should be gone, gone with the creatures of the first age lost to the shadows.

"A Balrog, a demon of the ancient world! This foe is beyond any of you! Run! Quickly!" Gandalf says, the fellowship following Gandalf out of the chamber, sprinting for their lives. Gandalf lets everyone pass him, Aragorn pausing looking to Gandalf in worry. "Lead them on, Aragorn! The bridge is near." Aragorn hesitates, Gandalf pushes him to follow the rest down the stairs. "Do as I say! Swords are no more use here."

Naehlara was closely following Boromir down a staircase when he suddenly stops. Reaching the last step Naehlara nearly falls over into the firehouse chasm below them. Legolas grabs Naehlara and Aragorn grabs Boromir pulling them back from the edge.

Legolas and Aragorn take the lead, running down the paths. As they get to a staircase leading farther down, each side leading down to the fore below. The fellowship comes to a stop a gap in the staircase. Legolas jumps across, "Naehlara!" He calls, jumping across, he pulls her into his arms. Quickly hugging her before releasing her, "Gandalf!" Gandalf jumps, holding onto Legolas' arms to stabilize him as he lands.

Naehlara freezes as an arrow whizzes past her, cutting her ear. Legolas pulls the bow from his back, finding the goblin that fired an arrow at Naehlara. Releasing the arrow it finds its home in the middle of the forehead of the goblin, falling dead. Turning back to the group to help the rest of the fellowship across. "No! Legolas, kill them. Gandalf and I got this." Naehlara instructs, Legolas nods turning back to the goblins.

Boromir grabs Merry and Pippin, jumping across the gap. Gandalf and Naehlara helping him steady. Another roar echos through the hall, causing the path to crumble and a chunk of the staircase to fall. "Naehlara!" Aragorn yells, grabbing Sam and tossing him across the gap. Naehlara caught him setting him down.

Aragorn went to grab Gimli when he whacked his hand away. "Nobody tosses a dwarf!" He shouts, jumping across the gap. Just narrowly missing, Naehlara went to grab him but Legolas beat her. Grabbing his beard holding him over the edge, trying to pull him up. "Not the beard!" He shouts just as Legolas yanks him up.

Naehlara watched in horror as another large chunk of the staircase fell. Aragorn pulling him and Frodo back so they don't fall with the piece. Another roar shook the cavern, the fellowship turning and watching the fire grow closer as the Balrog neared. Naehlara didn't want to see it, she never wanted to see one again after battling them in Morgoth.

The back part of the staircase fell, trapping Frodo and Aragorn on the unstable piece. The area shook, "Lean forward!" Aragorn yelled to Frodo folding him tight to keep him on the platform but helping him lean forward. The piece of staircase leaned forward, crashing into theres. Naehlara steadying Aragorn and Boromir catching Frodo.

They turned from the broken staircase, running towards a skinny bridge. "Over the bridge! Fly!" One by one they ran across the bridge to skinny for more than one person to run next to each other. Making it the other side, Boromir was in front of Naehlara and she counted each member of the fellowship as they passed her, looking back at the same time as Frodo as she realized Gandalf was no longer with them.

Out on the bridge Gandalf stood ready to face the Balrog. "You cannot pass!" He yelled, holding his staff out in front of him.

"Gandalf!" Frodo yelled, but Naehlara couldn't hear a thing as the Balrog stepped out into the open. Its wings widening now that it was in the open chamber. Roaring at Gandalf it stepped out onto the Bridge. Naehlara trembled as she watched the creature, it had nearly killed her once. The only scare on her body was from facing a balrog in her battles against Morgoth.

"I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun." Gandalf says, raising his sword up, the balrog raises his sword swinging down. Striking Gandalf's sword it shatters. Putting a foot out on the bridge drawing up to full height. "Go back to the Shadow!"

Taking another step forward Gandalf brings his staff down on the bridge. "You shall not pass!" The bridge cracked under its feet, collapsing the balrog falling with it. Naehlara collapsed to the ground relief flooding through her that the creature was gone. Gandalf turns to the fellowship smiling, taking a step to rejoin them.

"Gandalf!" Naehlara yells as she notices the whip of fire coming up from behind him.

"Gandalf!" Frodo yells running for him as Gandalf is pulled to the ledge, barely holding on. Boromir grabs him, stopping him from going back to the bridge as arrows start flying at them again.

"Fly you fools!" Gandalf shouts before falling into the chasm below.

Naehlara couldn't stand, another friend gone. Another friend lost to the creatures of the dark. Tears ran down her face as someone grabbed her arms helping her up as they ran up the staircase. The moment the sun hit her face Naehlara collapsed again, breathing in the fresh air as she sobbed.

Legolas kneeled down next to her pulling her into him, hugging her tightly. Brushing her hair, he checks her ear. It's mostly healed already just red with blood. Naehlara rubs her face, whipping away the tears. "We should get moving." Naehlara whispered to Legolas, looking around, everyone is collapsed to the ground crying. Gimli trying to run back into the mines and Boromir holding him back.

"Give yourself a moment." Legolas whispers, slightly pulling away. Softly brushing the hair out of her face and looking into her eyes."Are you okay?"

Naehlara went to answer when Aragorns voice cut across the mountain side. "Legolas, Naehlara get them up."

Boromir turned to Aragorn, "Give them a moment, for pity's sake!" Boromir yells, looking to the hobbits that lay across the ground sobbing.

"By nightfall these hills will be swarming with Orcs! We must reach the woods of Lothlorien. Come Boromir, Legolas, Naehlara, Gimli, get them up." Naehlara and Legolas stand moving to Merry and Pippin helping them up. "On your feet, Sam." Aragorn says helping him up from the ground.

"Frodo! Frodo!' Aragorn yells, looking down the mountain side, Frodo had begone to walk away. Tears streaming down his face as he looked back to the rest of the fellowship, his friends. Aragorn walked over to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "We must go." He said softly, Frodo silently nodded. They walked for a little while, before moving to a sprint trying to get to the mountain as fast as possible.

"I'm okay Legolas, I'll be okay." Naehlara said quietly, running beside him.
