I couldn't breathe.

"I'm sorry we didn't look at you when we left. So you could see in our eyes that we would come back for you."

I felt tears burning my eyes. I bit my lip and looked down, feeling a silent tear roll down my cheek. And I remembered Christmas eve, when I was so happy. It felt like a punch in the stomach.

"Look, you guys! It's snowing again! Happy Christmas Eve!"

"Pietro, would you stop eating the frosting?" said Wanda.

"LAST CHRISTMAS, I GAVE YOU MY HEART..." I sang.

"That looks like you drew it with your left leg"

"Alright, who threw that?" I laughed.

"You are gonna pay for that!"

"I'm so sorry, Wan! Oh, shoot, that's cold!"

"It's the most wonderful time of the year..."

By now, hot tears were pouring down my cheeks.

"You like your present, kid?" asked Tony.

My heart couldn't take this much pain.

"I love it. I'm so happy"

                                                                                   ****

I gripped my chest, my heart racing. I squeezed my eyes.

"Stop crying, stop crying!" I told myself.

"Hannah..." said Wanda, hugging me.

The hug felt too tight, I ran out of breath. I pushed her away.

"I...this is all a little...overwhelming r-right now, and...and I don't feel that well...I'm just gonna go..." I mumbled, getting up and walking towards the door.
