"So what happened next?" I hear my kids' voices.
"Well, I didn't die..." I laughed. "And I think that's it for the story time, now go to bed".
"Noooo!"
"Wait, so our parents are like, really famous?" exclaimed Jack.
"You could say..." I chuckled, giving Peter a quick kiss on the lips. He smiled and put his arm around me.
"But wait...what happened with the girls? The ones who bullied you?" Esme asked.
I laughed.
"I don't know, I haven't heard of them since".
"Oh...well, at least finish the story!"
"Alright" I laughed.
"Is she ok?"
"I can't really tell..."
"She's breathing, isn't she?"
"Did she hit her head?"
"Kid, please wake up, we can't lose you..."
"Look, she's opening her eyes!"
"Thank God!"
The voices I heard made no sense. I fluttered my eyelids and saw the blurry faces of my family. The Avengers.
I didn't die. A wave of happiness hit me.
"Hey, hey, you're okay" I heard Tony's gentle voice and turned to my side to see him kneeled down next to me.
"Tony..." I whispered.
"It's me, kid"
"You scared the shit out of us" said Clint.
"Are you alright?" I hear Steve.
I nodded slightly and started to get up.
"Easy" Tony grabbed my arms and I leaned onto him.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING??? YOU WERE JUST GOING TO, WHAT, SACRIFICE YOURSELF??? IF TONY HADN'T SAVE YOU..." Nat was yelling at me like a worried mother.
"Give her a break, she just escaped death" said Pietro, while he supported my other side.
Sam, Bucky, Thor and Bruce were walking behind us, giving me sympathetic smiles. Wanda kept checking me for signs of concussion.
"I'm ok, really" I say. "I do need something, though".
"What?"
I grab all of them and hug them tightly. Hot tears were streaming down my face. Happy tears. it's been a long time since I've cried out of happiness.
I started sobbing and clinging onto them, while they were panicking.
"What's wrong?"
"Are you hurt?"
I just shook my head and hugged them tighter.
"Thank you. You saved my life".
Tony opened his mouth, but I stopped him.
"And I don't just mean today. But every since I met you. You didn't have to, but you saved my life."
They hugged me tighter with smiles on their faces.
Tears were pouring freely down my face.
"Thank you for making me happy again".
