a/n have a winter chapter in august because why not
It's been a few days since I got sick at school. I know "sick" isn't exactly the right word to describe it, but I still have trouble explaining that terrible feeling.
It was now Saturday morning, and I was sliding down the railing in my pyjamas. I jumped off and my bare feet hit the cold floor. I ran into the living room.
"Good morning!" I smiled and did a little pirouette on my way to the kitchen.
"Morning! Someone woke up in a good mood!" commented Pietro as he sped over with a cup of coffee, pushing it in my hands.
I raised an eyebrow, challengingly.
"Soy milk latte with a teaspoon of sugar?"
"And extra foam" he smirked proudly.
"Impressive, thanks!" I laughed, taking a sip.
"You should go get dressed, Tony rented the ice rink for all of us to go skating" said Wanda.
"What??" I exclaimed in surprise. "Doesn't he hate that kind of stuff?"
They smiled and paused.
"He knows how much you love ice skating. Plus, winter's almost over. Since you didn't get to go with your parents, we thought we'd take you" smiled Nat.
I felt my heart skip a beat. They were too kind to me, I didn't know what to do. Was this pity? Did they feel sorry for me?
"Um...you didn't have to do this...you don't have to be this nice" I blurted.
"You're thinking too much of yourself, mortal. The fast one over here is undoubtedly more excited than you" commented Loki. I felt my nervousness fade.
I smiled.
"Okay, I'll go get dressed!"
"I'll race you!" said Pietro, zooming towards the stairs, blowing my hair in my face.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.

"Come on, hurry up!" I screamed, running towards the rink and throwing my rented ice skates on the bench. My elegant, white ones were back at home, so I settled for blue, plastic ones. I swallowed a lump when my eyes glanced towards the blades. So sharp, like the ones at HYDRA, like every device at HYDRA, actually. But I didn't dare think about it.
"Do you guys know how to skate?" asked Nat.
"Don't look at me, I'm gonna go get one of those plastic dolphins" Tony said in a serious tone.
"I'm gonna go see if they have soda" added Clint, walking away.
"Uh...guys, are you sure it's a good idea for us to skate if we don't know what we're doing?" asked Bruce.
Loki sat next to me and, with a flick of his hands, the skates wrapped around his feet perfectly, shining with green magic.
I grinned.
"Wow, I didn't expect you to come, Loki!"
"I am quite a good ice skater" he replied casually, getting up and entering the rink. He kept quiet while he peacefully slid on the glossy ice, his hands clasped behind his back. He looked happy, even though he wasn't smiling.
I managed to get my skates on and wobbled on the wood surface towards Wanda and Nat.
"Ready?" I asked.
They both put their skates on and nodded. I grabbed their hands and walked in between them, approaching the rink.
When my foot hit the ice, I felt the electricity shooting through my body and smiled. I grabbed the edge of the rink and slid forward. My skates scratched the shiny ice. I quickly found the perfect pace and slid onto the surface in a smooth, fluid motion. I loved the sting of the cold on my cheeks and hearing nothing but the wind blowing around me.
