You can leave.

Those three words were music to my ears. As soon as Tareq informed me, I didn't wait for another second and ran out of that place without giving a back glance. Afraid if I look back in fear, they might change their mind and prison me till their boss arrives—their boss, none other than Aryan Abdullah. I could swear I saw my doom when I saw him again. If I had known who he was, I would have stayed in that graveyard forever than run into him twice that night.

In my haste to escape, I didn't stop running until I saw the main junction. I boarded the cab without giving a second thought and clutched my bag closer to me to control my body's horrid tremble. A shuddering exhale left me when I realized what kind of trouble I would have landed into if they didn't let me go today. It was not until I hailed a cab did I breathe in relief.

A chill ran through me, recollecting his gaze darkening when he caged me between his arms. His gaze as if looking at his favorite toy and that known smirk made me wonder, what was he planning to do with me? A nagging thought kept plaguing my mind, he won't let me escape so easily.

My soul left my body when I learned I spent a dreadful night with a mafia man on his bed. If that was not all, I told him about my problem in my breakdown. In childhood, mom used to warn us how dangerous it could be to talk to a stranger, and here I was, crying my heart out to a stranger who was suspected to be working for a mafia.

Maybe whoever got killed was messing with the mafia.

I am a cab driver, madam. I've seen things at night while you people sleep, oblivious to dark life.

The voice of an earlier cab driver played in my head. When I connected all the pieces, my heart dropped into my stomach. The encounter in that abandoned building, the dungeon in that warehouse, the attack on his mansion, the way he didn't even blink shooting anyone all led me to believe the rumors about him being the Mafia were all true.

"Mam."

That day, I didn't just escape my death, but I witnessed an encounter between the mafia men, and he knew I was there. My eyes went wide with the realization.

"Mam!"

I yelped and was brought out of my reverie when the cab driver asked, "where would you be going?"

"Away from him," I whispered inaudibly in fear.

"What?"

"I..." I gulped to moist my parched throat and added, "Adam's Road."

My body went into flight mode. It was only when the cab driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror I realized my teeth were chattering. Covering my mouth to cease the trembling, I took a deep breath to gather myself.

What does he want from me? Why did he let me go that day and suddenly want to talk to me? Why did he say I should thank him? one thing is for sure, our encounter that night was left unfinished, and he was back to continue from where he stopped. But...but he is dangerous, and a girl like me will stand no chance against him. No one knew what had happened that night. The secret of me working as an escort that was buried deep was now threatening to reveal with his come back in my life.

There will be a way; there has to be a way. Mom said there would always be light at the end of the tunnel then there would be a solution to the problem I was currently in.

Think Adah.

Inhale and exhale.

Think.

Inhale, and I closed my eyes before I let out an exhale.

He knows my name, about dad and that I'm working.
