"Where is Adah?"
Although my inside was throbbing with unfiltered rage, I was calm outside. Osama stood before me with his hands locked behind him. I don't have to see him clenching and unclenching his fists in dread.
Like a fucking sand, my control was slipping out of my grip, and I couldn't even do anything about it. Not without hurting Adah. I lost count of how many times I have taken asylum in my study, hiding from a fragile girl who was churning my inside with her innocence. The way she was checking me out shameless oblivious to her action, how she was licking those luscious lips that I was craving like a feral animal, or how dazed she was in my arms that if I had bent her over and fucked her, she wouldn't even have resisted.
And that was the problem.
"I saw her last in the room while patrolling. Matt and June were out, so I had breakfast and left to monitor the outer perimeter. I didn't see her later."
"Remind me why I brought you with me, Osama?" I asked, placing my elbow on the armrest and tilting my head over my fist.
"A-As security in charge."
"And yet my security in charge doesn't know where my woman is," I said deadpan.
"B-Bo—"
Before he could continue, the sound of the boat engine caught our attention. I stood up and walked towards the window only to find the subject of my rage laughing without a care in the world.
So this is where she was. Did she think she was on some family holiday? I'll make sure the message is engraved in her brain. Crystal clear.
Reigning in my temper, I walked to the main door and stood at the entrance waiting for them. Matt noticed me, but his smile fell as soon as he saw my expression. Noticing the change in his demeanor, June and Adah followed his line of sight. Their steps faltered, and my gaze didn't miss the way Matt took one step ahead, hiding Adah behind him.
I narrowed my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. I have given too much leeway to this girl that she has the audacity to leave the island when she fucking knew she couldn't. I should have put a leash on her defiance when she started wearing my clothes instead of the ones I decided for her. If not for my silence, she wouldn't have got the gut to pull today's stunt. My blistering stare had Adah flinch and lower her eyes in trepidation.
"Baba.....we wer—" I raised my arm to stop June.
"With whose permission you left the island?" I directed my question to the grey-eyed girl.
She was small enough for me to crush her throat with one hand. What was even worse was that she somehow knew I didn't have it in me to hurt her now.
Instead of answering me, Adah's attention went past me, and when I followed her eyes, I saw Osama shaking his head with an I-told-you-so look.
"Baba, it's my fault. I forced her to come with us," of course, Matt will be the first to come in her defense.
"Adah," I warned, to which she raised her head and stepped forward.
"I-I wanted t-to go. It's not anyone's fault; in fact, they told me to take your permission, b-but I insisted. I-I knew you wouldn't let me go," she stuttered, clutching what looked like a box.
"And why didn't you bother to inform Osama?" something was definitely amiss. My men never fail, especially an asshole like Osama.
"H-He would have told you immediately, and I-I won't be able to go with them."
A heavy silence fell. I didn't make an attempt to ask further, nor were they in a state to provoke me with their bullshit. Since I came to the island for the first time, Matt and June squirm in my presence. In their mission to make me fall for Adah, they have forgotten who I was. This was the limit to my patience, and I'll be damned if I let things slip out of my control further.
"Very well," saying that, I turned around and left them.
Reacting in anger won't fetch the desired result since your prey will expect worse. I'm a thorough and thorough predator who attacks when least expected. He lets his prey believe they are safe, and the moment they drop their guards, he strikes them hard. What matters is how hard you attack your prey, not how often. One strike, and Adah will never forget what she is dealing with. She will understand the mistake of getting comfortable in my lair.
I waited patiently, although I wanted nothing but to rip someone. The danger that this girl has put herself into; I will show her a glimpse of that reality. The survival instinct of the people in the mansion was enough for them to stay away from me. The moment the clock struck 10, I made my way towards my room, and as expected, Adah was fast asleep....in my t-shirt...again.
Knowing she was a heavy sleeper, I found no issue carrying her out. It took me roughly 10 mins to place her exactly where I wanted her to be....in the dense part of the forest, behind my villa. The drop in the temperature and lack of warmth will soon stir her sleep. I stood in the dark near the enormous trees and waited, darkness camouflaging me.
Soon enough, Adah rolled on her side and shivered due to the cold. The forest was unusually silent except for the chirping of night bugs. A sudden whoosh of cold breeze made her wake up with a jolt. Terror would be a small word to describe her expression. Being a trained fighter, it was not difficult for me to look at her, even in the dim moonlight. However, the moonlight was no better than darkness for someone like Adah.
She palmed her mouth to stop herself from screaming. Although the forest doesn't have wild animals, one can't be sure of reptiles and all sorts of other insects. Her muffled shriek resonated before she pulled her legs away from something on the ground. As I said, not sure of insects crawling on the ground.
She stood on her unsteady legs and walked back, glancing frantically around to find her way. A snap of a twig somewhere, and she let go of the scream she was holding, followed by her cry for help.
Good. This is the reality of the world that she was unaware of. She might have a sheltered upbringing, but with the stunt, she pulled today, if she caught my enemy's attention, her life would be worse than this darkness. She is getting too comfortable with me, instigating my beast at every step. If that was not enough, her hooded gaze, provoking me to devour her, almost snapped my resolve yesterday.
She was playing with fire, and a reality check of what could happen if she grew deeper into me was necessary. I wanted to scare her more, but the same fucking urge overtook me, and I couldn't stop.
I took a step, and the crunching of leaves beneath my boots whirled her head in my direction, "who is there?"
Her voice trembled with fear, and the thought of darkness engulfing her made it more terrifying. This experience should be enough for her to shrink back to her limits.
"This is what the world looks like for people like you."
My voice echoed in the forest. Her breathing hitched before she whispered, "Aryan?"
"You forgot who I'm, Adah," another step towards her.
"If it was someone else in your place, she would be lying six feet under." I continued to walk, not wavering my gaze from her trembling form.
"Next time, you go against m—" my sentence stopped abruptly after hearing her whisper, "I know you would find me."
"What?" my steps freeze.
The next moment, she rushed forwards and jumped over me. That impact made me stumble, but I was quick enough to hold her in my arms. Her arms tightened around my neck, and a short whiff of lavender hitting me rendered me speechless.
"I was waiting for you. I know you won't let anything happen to me," she mumbled incessantly, knocking my breath.
Instead of being terrified, this girl believed I would save her. Did she not hear what I said just now?
"Aryan. You kept your promise every time."
Her mumbles turned into cries, and I couldn't help tightening my arms around her waist. By the time rationality kicked me, Adah had already passed out in my hold.
