What have I done?
I slide into the corner, unable to stare at my reflection in shame. Covering my mouth with my trembling hands, I desperately tried to muffle the sob that was threatening to escape me. He touched me!
Touched me where no one else has touched.
Did something that made me feel strange.
My nostril flared, smelling the strange scent from me, and I couldn't muster the courage to look down and button my open pants. The intensity of the scream logged in my throat shook my body like a leaf.
What have I done?
"We confirmed her statement. she was inside the bathroom...."
"Was her card used anywhere else...?"
"No...."
I could hear their voices but didn't listen to them at the same time. His voice, the one whose fingers were inside me a few moments ago before I ran and hid inside the bathroom attached to his vast cabin.
"What about the camera's outside the server room?"
"They wipe out the recording of that entire floor."
If I was not scared to death myself, I would be intrigued to know more details about the breach I was accused of. I was anything but a traitor. I would have been glad if he had tortured me the way he does instead of making me feel shallow in my own eyes. My bottom still stings at the place where he hit me and humiliated me. No matter how much I controlled it, a sob escaped from my throat before silence fell outside.
A shuddering exhale left me thinking any moment he would barge in and continue what he left unfinished. With my tears blurring my vision, I kept staring at the door in dread. A whimper escaped my covered mouth when I felt his voice closer than earlier.
"Create another security card for her."
Pulling my knees closer to my chest, I closed my eyes and counted numbers to divert my mind.
"Boss, I thought to bring this to your notice. I went through yesterday's recording and saw someone crashing into Ms. Malik."
My eyes snapped open at the information. In my haste to escape him last evening, I collided with a housekeeper and didn't bother to check if I had retrieved my fallen items.
"And?"
His voice turned cold, and my heart dropped into my guts, sensing his unspoken fury.
I can't stand betrayal, his words from earlier.
"I'm on it."
"Ahaad, is it because you are losing your acumen, or am I being too lenient with my men? First Jahanzeb and now you."
"You have my words. He will be at your feet by the end of the day."
I gulped, hoping for the hope that man won't turn out to be a scapegoat like me. I was still trying to remember his face when the door opened, making me gasp in terror.
Will he do the same thing he did some time ago?
I gaped at the monster standing at the door, frowning. With one hand inside his pocket, he stood at the threshold with his eyes grazing my skin from afar without even touching me and then fell on the fresh clothing that lay on the counter. My breathing hitched when he removed the hand— the same hand he used on me—from his pocket and locked the door.
"I..d-didn't.." in dread, I slid up the wall, bracing myself for another assault.
Under normal circumstances, the bathroom would have looked spacious, but for me, it kept shrinking with each minute under his scrutinizing gaze. A shriek escaped my throat when I saw him walking toward me with a clenched jaw. In so many encounters with him, this was the first time I saw a vein throbbing over his forehead like he was one step away from exploding.
