Why me?
I couldn't stop thinking about this question since he barged into my life. I didn't ask him to pay for my dad's treatment. I didn't ask him to give me a job then why was I trapped with him?
"Why me?" I repeated when Aryan didn't reply.
His breath fanned my face, and I let my eyes be closed lest I lose my courage to ask what had been bothering me for so long. I counted numbers, waiting for him to answer. Although I wasn't sure he would dignify my question with an answer, my anxiety still didn't seem to cease unless I knew the reason. Out of all scenarios that I had assumed as his answer, his reply took me off guard.
"Because you cross my path."
What does he even mean by that? It sounded like I deliberately came into his life, and it was my fault. How did I cross his path when all I did was run for my own life and bump into him. Is it a crime to save someone? I looked at him in disbelief, painfully aware of his thumb stroking my neck. I was about to say something when he cut me in.
"Before you start pleading and assuming your pleas will make me let you go, then you are delusional. You are mine till I say so. Either you accept that and spend the rest of the time here doing as I said or"
My breathing hitched, seeing his black orbs turn dangerous. Wrapping his fingers around my throat, he said, " I can forget about my promise to you."
My gaze flitted between his eyes in panic. From the time I spent with him, I knew he was a man of his word. he would do as he said, and I was already walking on eggshells here.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked meekly, my pulse fluttering with his hold on my neck.
"Be with me," saying that, he loosened his grip.
A nod was I could reply with lowered my gaze. To my utter surprise, he placed a lingering kiss on my forehead before putting me back in my seat. I sat like a statue already working on his warning. He wants me to be with him, and I would obediently follow it if it keeps him from pouncing on me.
I grabbed a toast and nibbled on it mindlessly. Sensing that was all I was thinking of eating, he filled my plate with everything on the table. A protest was on the tip of my tongue, but I remained silent. My entire existence was dependent on the way I behaved. One move, and he could snap my neck.
"You need to improve your appetite. You recently got up from a fever. Make sure you finish everything on your plate."
I looked at my plate and then at him. was he serious?
Sensing my reluctance, he raised his eyes, "Any problem?"
I immediately shook my head. This is his new plan? To stuff me and kill me with food overdose? Grabbing my cutlery, I went on the mission of finishing the food. I glanced at his plate and was surprised to see him eating slowly. It looked as if he was deliberately matching my pace. I choked while eating in haste before he passed me the juice.
"We are not running a marathon here. eat slowly."
I gulped down a large amount of juice to swallow the food stuck in my throat. After that, I took my time, although my skin tingled with his constant stare. Shifting my focus, I looked to the other side at the blue laying ahead of me till my vision to see. Nature was breathtaking, with only blue surrounding me—a clear blue sky, a blue ocean, and the cool breeze brushing my loose strands.
What he said was true; I had no option other than to spend the rest of the time as he wanted me to. I couldn't fight with him knowing well I was alone and in his territory. For assumption sake, even if I could resist him, where was I supposed to go? I was not in the city to run towards my home.
