Kendra's POV
"Done," I said to Jax, smiling.
"Ken, I want ice cream!" Jax said, pointing toward an ice cream shop. I smiled and said while picking him up, "Come on, I'll buy it for you!"
End of Kendra's POV
In the washroom,
"What... what do you want?" Celine asked Dexter, her voice stern. With an evil smile, he said,
"I need your son, Jax. Can you give him to me?"
When he mentioned Jax, Celine's heart dropped. An unknown fear overwhelmed her, but she took a deep breath to stay strong and replied with her stern voice,
"Stay away from my son, Dexter!"
At her words, Dexter laughed out loud, confusing Celine. Suddenly, he stopped laughing and, with a chilling tone, said,
"I'll take him anyway. But before that, I'll kill someone precious to Zayn. Let me find out who that person is to him, and after that, it'll be your son's turn. Wait for it....."
He turned to leave but stopped, smirking.
"Zayn's gone for a mission, right?"
He asked before walking out with an evil grin. Celine stumbled back, a tear escaping her eye.
After a moment, she washed her face and returned to where Kendra and Jax were.
Kendra's POV
While we were sitting in the ice cream shop, I got a call from Celine.
"Where are you, Kendra?" she asked.
I looked around and, waving my hand, said, "Look to your left."
"I see you," she replied and hung up.
"Hey," she greeted us with a small smile and sat next to Jax. I looked at her face—she seemed so nervous, and she was sweating profusely.
"Are you okay? You look nervous," I asked, concerned. She smiled and said, "I'm fine, just a little tired. Can we go back home?"
I studied her for a moment and asked,
"Are you sure? Do we need to go to the hospital?"
She looked at me and replied, "I'm fine, Kendra... I just need to go home."
I nodded in understanding. "Okay then. Wait here; let me pay the bill," I said, getting up. But she grabbed my hand.
"Let me pay," she insisted, but I gently stopped her. "I'll pay. You sit here. Here's your card," I said, handing the card back to her before heading to pay with Jax.
As I paid, I glanced back at her—she still looked so scared and nervous. I had a feeling something had happened...
After paying the bill, we went straight to the Collins' house.
"This is the house, right?" I asked Celine, looking at the large gate.
"Yeah, it is," she said with a smile. I hummed in response.
"Come inside. You're coming for the first time, right?" she invited. I smiled and replied, "Yeah, but maybe next time."
"No!" Jax protested, pouting cutely. I chuckled and said, "Champ, I'll definitely come another day." I tried to convince him, but he shook his head, still pouting. Celine chuckled at us and said, "At least for Jax, come inside."
I smiled at her. "Okay," I agreed.
I started the engine and drove inside. The security stopped me at first, but after seeing Celine, they let us through.
