Eden's Point Of View
The next morning, at 5 a.m., I was up and out of Gianna's apartment.
And in desperate need of a blunt.
My head pounded due to the lack of sleep I had been getting and the thought of Raine's hands on Gianna.
Raine's return made my blood boil. She'd been gone for two years, and now she's suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
She's definitely plotting something. I just hope she keeps Gianna out of it.
I pulled into my garage after driving up the long driveway. I turned the car off and sat in the silence that surrounded me.
Everything this week has been piling up on me, and it feels like I'm letting it all slip out of my hands.
Eventually, I found myself sinking into my large bathtub with one of my pre-rolled blunts. The scent of the lavender soap filled my nose, and the steam soothed my aching muscles.
I pulled from the blunt slowly, allowing the smoke to calm my nerves. I exhaled the smoke, watching the thick clouds mix with the steam from the tub.
I sank further into the tub, allowing the blunt to calm my body and clarify my thoughts.
If Raine is plotting something, I have to make sure I beat her in her own game.
After draining the tub, I rinsed my body off in the shower and rubbed all my expensive lotions into my skin.
I slid black dress pants over my legs and matched them with a black-and-white pinstriped corset. Within minutes, my hair was done, and I was fully dressed and high as the clouds.
I tightened my slick-back ponytail before applying minimal makeup, staring at my reflection in the mirror.
My eyes were slightly red and incredibly low. Adding to the tiredness that drowned my face.
I found myself in the kitchen, combining random things to make something of a breakfast.
My stomach tossed and turned as my mind wandered. I stared blankly at the plate before me, pushing the fluffy eggs around.
I sighed heavily and dumped the plate into the sink. Then, I grabbed a pair of keys and headed to Winslow Enterprise.
The drive to my company was silent and very long as the streets were crowded with people heading to work.
I pulled into one of the spaces on my reserved level. Not even hesitating to turn it off and head inside.
"Good morning, Ms.Winslow," Valentina said as I passed through the reception area.
"Good morning, Valentina," I said, heading towards the elevator, my heels clicking against the marble floors.
"I know you said that Avanna was supposed to bring Lily, but she hasn't arrived yet," she said, following me toward the large silver doors.
My eyebrows furrowed, "What do you mean?" I said, slowly pressing the button.
Avanna knows how strict I am about her bringing Lily on time when she stays with her. I barely trust her to watch Lily for an hour, and she blatantly disregards my rules.
"They haven't shown up yet. I can call her if you'd like," Valentina suggested, tucking pieces of her long brown hair behind her ear.
"No, it's fine," I told her, watching as the elevator doors opened.
It's not Valentina's job to deal with my sister. It's mine, and I'll make sure she's handled.
"Okay, I will let you know when your first meeting is ready," she smiled lightly before backing away.
