Gianna's Point Of View
The next few weeks I spent as Eden's girlfriend were just as amazing as I dreamed they would be. The small dates, quick lunches, and nights spent together were all so perfect.
Even if they all were interrupted by her phone ringing.
Even now, as we spent our early morning setting up my classroom for my Valentine's Day party and Lily's birthday party, we were interrupted by her phone ringing.
"They can't fucking pull out Malcom." Her stern voice flowed from the back of my classroom. "I already invested fifty thousand dollars into the project."
I paused hanging the pink heart-shaped decoration, and glanced over at Eden. Her expression was tense and her eyes narrowed.
"Everything okay?" I mouthed, concern coating my face.
Eden held up a finger, signaling me to wait.
"...Unacceptable. We need them on board," she continued, her voice firm but laced with frustration.
I returned to decorating, trying to focus on the upcoming party. But my mind wandered, and I wondered what was bothering Eden.
Lily's birthday and Valentine's Day decorations transformed the classroom into a festive space. Red and pink balloons, heart-shaped streamers, and handmade cards from students adorned the walls.
Soft knocks sounded at the heavy classroom door, which made me walk over and open it. Phaith and Kelsey were both waiting for me, dressed in the matching shirts we planned to wear.
"Gianna, you always overdo it," Phaith laughed, looking down at my white tutu, which I wore over my red leggings.
"Whatt, I'm cupid," I joked, letting them both in before returning to the banner I was hanging.
"Baby, I'll be back," Eden said, squeezing my waist and briefly kissing me before disappearing into the empty hallway.
"Your parties always look so good," Phaith said, looking over my decorations.
"Thank you," I smiled, but my smile soon faded. "Do you think Julianna would say it's favoritism because Lily gets to have a birthday party?"
"I don't think so; I mean, Eden is the one who brought the stuff for the party," Kelsey shrugged.
Phaith's eyebrows furrowed, "Parents are allowed to bring in stuff to have a party for their kid," she said, leaning against one of my desks. "So if she says some shit to you, she's definitely targeting you."
"Right, or she's mad that she didn't get to Eden first," Kelsey chuckled, playing with her curls.
I shook my head, "Shut up," I laughed, hanging the banner over my board.
Kelsey fell into laughter, the soft sound echoing through my room, "I'm just saying, Gia, she's an smart businesswoman with hella money; I would be a little salty if I were Julianna."
Phaith nodded, "Exactly, that's probably why she acts like that with you."
"I guess you guys have a point, but I wouldn't act like that if it were one of you," I pointed out.
"Yeah, but we're your friends, and Julianna is your boss, not to mention she's tried sleeping with parents on the committee for more sponsorship, and it hasn't worked yet."
My eyes widened. " Wait, what?" my voice echoed through the room.
Kelsey and Phaith nodded, nearly in sync. "Yes, she was wining and dining one of the fifth-grade moms because she had just gotten a divorce," Kelsey said, crossing her arms over her chest.
