Eden's Point Of View

I came out of my second meeting of the morning mentally drained and sleep-deprived.

"You have a good day, Eden." Maddox, head of my cybersecurity team, said, holding the large glass door open for me. "I will have these sent over to Artemis like you wanted."

"Thank you, Maddox. I hope you have a good day, too," I told him, flashing him a polite smile as I walked out.

I stopped in front of the glass windows of conference room 22, watching Lily and Gianna working hard on their lesson.

Gianna's head turned, causing our eyes to lock on each other's.

I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as Gianna's eyes met mine, a sly smile spreading across her face. I quickly looked away, trying to compose myself. I didn't need to get caught up in Gianna's charms right now.

I went to my office, trying to shake off the feeling. But as I opened the door, I was greeted by an unexpected sight. Raine sat in my chair, her long legs propped up on my desk.

"Hey, boss," she said, giving me a lazy grin. "I hope you don't mind, but I made myself at home."

I raised an eyebrow, trying to hide my surprise. What was Raine doing here? And most importantly, who let her up here?

Raine's gaze lingered on me, her eyes glinting with amusement and malice. "It's been a long time, Eden. I see you're still as ruthless as ever."

I narrowed my eyes, my grip on the door handle tightening. "What do you want, Raine? You're not welcome here."

Raine chuckled, her voice husky. "Oh, I think I am. You see, I've been watching you from afar. Your little family is quite... beautiful. Especially Gianna. She's a stunning addition to your life."

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Gianna's name. How long has Raine been watching us?

Raine's smile grew wider. "A lot has changed since she was in my bed. I've built an empire and become the biggest gang leader in the city of Miami, and I'm not leaving until I take what's mine. Including this company."

The threat was subtle but clear. Raine was willing to hurt those I loved to get what she wanted. I felt a cold fury rising within me, but I kept my expression neutral.

"Get the fuck out of my office and stay away from my family," I demanded.

"How come? The fun is just starting," she smirked.

I pulled my black gun out of the waistband of my black dress pants, aiming it at her head, "The fun is over. Get the fuck out."

A deep chuckle left her lips, and she put her feet down off my desk and stood up,

Raine's eyes never left mine as she slowly stood up, her movements fluid and deliberate. She towered over me, her presence commanding attention. "You're still as fiery as ever, Eden. I like that."

She took a step closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "But you're playing with fire if you think you can threaten me. I have eyes and ears everywhere. I know all about your little family. Gianna, Lily... they're all so precious to you."

Raine's gaze lingered on me, her eyes glinting with malice. "Don't think for a second that I won't hurt them if you don't cooperate. You know I will."

With that, she turned and strolled out of my office, leaving me seething with anger and worry. I knew Raine wasn't bluffing. She would stop at nothing to get what she wanted.

I collapsed into my office chair, feeling like I'd been punched in the gut. Raine's threats echoed in my mind, making my blood run cold. I couldn't let her hurt Gianna or Lily. I had to protect them.
