Chapter Nine

Gianna's Point Of View

Just about two weeks have passed since I last saw Eden and Adrianna. Neither of them has called or texted and I haven't done the same either. I just feel that it's probably better this way, I mean, after all, there is unspoken business between Eden and I which shall remain unspoken, which is why I cannot fully commit to Adrianna.

Today was testing day, the day I had been preparing my students for since October. I think I was more nervous about this testing than they were.

I watched all my students come in giving them directions to turn off any electronics they might have brought and to put their backpacks along my front wall.

I also set up a morning snack station that way they could eat something before testing if they didn't want to eat something from the cafeteria.

"Good Morning Miss. Graves," Lily said coming in with two gift bags in her hands.

"Hi Lily, who did you get gifts for?" I asked helping her take her backpack off.

"They are for you," she smiled.

"For me? You didn't have to get me anything," I told her putting her backpack down in the front of the room.

"Well you've put up with me for a while so yeah, thank you for preparing me for today," she said shocking me.

"Here you go," she said handing me the two gift bags.

I sat the bags down on my desk going through both of them.

One bag was full of snacks, drinks, and two warm blueberry muffins. In the other bag, there was a small bouquet of hand-picked flowers, two cards, and boxes of perfume.

I took out the two perfumes, one being Tom Ford and the other being Jimmy Choo.

"Lilith you did not have to get me any gifts sweetie, you can take these back home my dear," I told her turning around to face her.

"It's fine, really, and my aunt helped me. She helped me pick out those flowers and snacks," she said which meant she didn't know about the perfume.

"What about these? Did she help you?" I asked her showing her the perfume

"Oh she got those for you on her own," she said.

"Thank you, sweetheart, I love it." I smiled and she hugged me.

"I'm sorry for being so bad," she looked up at me.

"It's fine Lily you were just bored," I said rubbing her back.

"You are my favorite teacher," she said and I looked down at her to make sure this was the same student I had a month ago.

"I am?" My eyebrows furrowed.

"Yes," she said letting me go.

"Thank you" I smiled at her.

"Can I eat one of those chicken minis?" She asked.

"Of course, I brought them for you guys," I told her.

She ran off to get something to eat and I stared at the gifts in front of me. I took out the cards, one obviously Lilith drew but the other one was in an actual envelope.

Dear Gianna,
I am sorry for everything that's happened between us. And I apologize for snapping on you when I had absolutely no right to. I know how much you liked my perfume, so here are some of your own. I know how stressed you were about testing, good luck but you don't even need it cause you're an amazing teacher, and I'm sorry about my niece but I'm glad I got to meet you.
