Gianna's Point Of View

The next morning was one of the most chaotic mornings I have had in a while. I spent the morning slamming cabinets shut, ignoring her texts and calls.

Then once I got to work none of my stuff was set up. My lesson plan wasn't complete. My head was all over the place.

"Miss. Graves, can we be done with quiet time now?" One of my students asked causing my spiraling thoughts to halt.

"Uh sure let's do some reading. Do you guys want me to read you a story or do you want to read your own?" I said standing from my desk.

" Can you read to us?" Lily asked.

"You? You want me to read to you guys" My eyebrows furrowed so quickly.

She was the last one I expected to want me to read to them. But still, I found myself walking to my talk shelf of books pulling out one of my many books.

" Okay I guess we can start now, we weren't supposed to start this book till after Christmas break," I said grabbing my book and sitting on my desk.

" Why is there a monkey on it?" Hailey's voice echoed from her desk.

" Because it is called the one and only Ivan, it's about a monkey," I told her.

Ohhhs sounded from my class before they fell silent so I could read the book.

" I am Ivan. I am a gorilla." I read from the book grasping my children's attention.

"It's not as e-" I cut my sentence short once I heard keys at my door and the knob being turned.

"Deliveryyy" Julia the front desk lady came in.

" For who?" I said putting my finger in the book.

"For you" Taylor her assistant came in with the most beautiful bouquet and a pretty purple gift bag.

"Awwww" My class cooed.

" Miss. Graves what's in the bag!?" One of my other students asked.

" I don't know Charlie, I hope some snacks" I laughed.

Taylor set the flowers down on my desk and handed me the bag.

I admired the pretty arrangement of pink and white Lilys and red roses. Looking for the signed card so I could know who they were from even if deep down I wanted it to be her.

I'm sorry about lunch yesterday beautiful, let me make it up to you.

I sighed and opened the bag to which there was a box of chocolate-covered strawberries and a note.

They won't be as good as the ones you made Lily but I hope you enjoy them.

It warmed my heart that she sent something over but it was not enough for what I felt yesterday.

"They're beautiful," both Julia and Taylor said before they both headed.

I admired the flowers before getting my students back on track.

Soon the day was over and I was packing up my classroom for the weekend. Heels clicked against my floor making my heart drop.

I quickly turned around, my eyes only landing on Kelsey.

" Oh, it's just you," I said before turning to continue packing up my class.

" Don't act so surprised" she said sarcastically sitting at my desk chair.
