Gianna's Point Of View
My heart beat against my chest along with the rhythm of the pulsating music.
"Raine?" I whispered, my voice barely audible over the thumping bass.
Her warm breath fanned across my ear as her hands ran up my waist. "Hi, Baby."
Our eyes locked immediately in a tense gaze. Her light-colored eyes sparkled with amusement, but I wasn't buying it.
I knew her.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, stepping back to create distance.
She chuckled, her smirk unfaltering. "I own the club, baby." She emphasized the word, her eyes glinting.
I raised an eyebrow. "Congratulations." My tone was laced with sarcasm.
Raine's grin widened. "Thank you, baby."
"Don't call me that," I snapped, my voice firm.
Her brow arched. "You used to love it."
I crossed my arms defensively. "That was two years ago when you wanted something from me."
Raine's smile faltered for a split second; I wondered if I saw it. "Oh, come on, Gianna. Don't rewrite history. You wanted me just as much as I wanted you."
Her words stung, but I stood firm, letting it roll off. "You disappeared after, Raine. No calls, no texts. Just silence."
The music swelled, and Raine's expression softened, but only for an instant.
"I was busy building my empire," she said, her voice dripping confidently.
I scoffed. "And breaking hearts."
Raine's laughter echoed through the club, drawing attention. "You're still dramatic, as ever, Gianna."
Our gazes locked, tension crackling between us like electricity.
Her nonchalance fueled my anger further. My face grew hotter with each passing second. "You're so fucking unbelievable, Raine," I spat harshly, my voice low and venomous.
"You think you can just come back all club owner and shit and expect me to fawn all over you?"
Her smirk tightened, "why not? You did it before, baby,"
I rolled my eyes, "Stop fucking calling me that."
My knuckles turned white from the grip that I unconsciously had on my drink. I let go, stretching out my fingers. "That was before you vanished without a word." The bartender watched our exchange, concern etched on her face.
Raine shrugged, nonchalance infuriating me further. "Business called. Now, I'm back, Gianna." Her gaze swept me, possessive.
I rolled my eyes, heavy with disdain. Turning to the bartender, I said, "You can close me out, thanks."
"Melissa, it's on the house," Raine cut in, smirk widening. "She's a loyal customer."
"I don't need handouts," I snapped, sliding Melissa a twenty. "My girlfriend can take care of me."
Raine's smirk faltered, eyes narrowing. For an instant, vulnerability flashed.
"You're with someone?" Her tone was even, but curiosity flickered.
I turned, leaving Raine's question hanging. Her footsteps quickly followed, grabbing my wrist and pulling me back into her.
"Girlfriend? Gianna," she said, peering down at me.
