Tick.

Tock.

Tick.

Tock.

Ann laid in her bed, looking at the ceiling, only the sound of the clock breaking the silence. She looked at the time.

2:02 am.

She looked over at Josh who was fast asleep by her side. He had his mouth slightly opened and snored lightly from time to time. She smiled at the view, brushing a hand through his hair. She was grateful for him. He had really helped her in her worst times, been a shoulder to cry on. He'd been really accepting and understanding. The girls loved him as he always made sure to buy them some gifts and sweets. All in all, it was going well.

She looked over at the door. Then there was Joe. It was still so fresh and painful. And she realized how much she tried to pretend she let go of the feeling for him. Not being able to see him physically for 6 months helped a lot as she focused on building something new. But all it took was one touch and she was back in the spiral.

But she was mad at him. Mad at him for finally doing something right when it was too late. When she finally thought she closed that chapter. And here he comes, barging in her life with a massive bouquet of roses.

She looked back at the ceiling. She loved Joe. She never stopped. But they divorced for a reason. Going back into that would just be stupid. Josh didn't deserve that. He trusted her. He never questioned her calling or texting Joe. He understood.

As much as she wanted to jump in Joe's bed, she couldn't. She had too much respect for Josh. It would destroy him.

So she turned to her side and took a deep breath, before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.

The next morning she woke up feeling as though her head could explode. Her migraine was killing her, probably from the amount of thoughts from last night.

But she was proud of herself. Proud of herself for being strong and not letting the desires take over her.

She got up from the bed, stretching her arms and yawning. One day till Christmas. She looked out of the window, noticing that all the snow that had magically fallen yesterday was already gone as the LA weather came back to its normal. That was probably the only thing she missed about New Jersey.  Christmas with snow.

She walked downstairs, hearing voices from the kitchen.

"I'll try to do a Mickey one now." Josh smiled as he flipped a pancake.

"I said Goofy!" Willa said.

"Okay, first Mickey then Goofy, Willa!"

"Hello." Ann smiled, hugging Josh from behind.

"Hello, you. Did you sleep well?"

"Not really. My head hurts like hell." She sighed, sitting on the chair and smiling at her daughters that were fighting over a pancake in a shape of something reminiscing a snowman.

"There should be some ibuprofen in the bathroom."

"Yeah, I'll go have a look."

She got up and walked to the bathroom that was upstairs, brushing a hand through her sleepy eyes as she entered it. She yawned, opening the cabinet with a mirror that was above the sink in the search for the magical pills. She noticed the orange pill bottle and quickly took it.

"Score." She whispered to herself as she closed the cabinet. "Oh my god!" She yelled, covering her eyes.

There she saw in the mirror that Joe was standing right behind her in his full glory.
