- 6 months later -

„Goodnight!" Willa screamed as Ann walked out of her room.

„Sleep tight, honey." She smiled, closing her doors.

She sighed and walked down to the kitchen, turning on the oven. She looked at the clock and frowned, knowing that Josh was supposed to be back from work already.

She took out her phone and just now noticed he sent her a text about half an hour ago.

Josh:
Need to finish some stuff before tomorrow, I'll be late, I'm sorry ☹️ but tomorrow I'm gonna take u on a fancy date!!! Promise ❤️

She put her phone down and turned off the oven.

Guess it's not pizza night tonight.

She grabbed a bag of popcorn and put it into the microwave. Meanwhile she cleaned the kitchen after the mess the girls made with dinner.

When it stopped popping she took it out and walked into the leaving room, jumping on the couch. She lazily switched programs, trying to find something she can watch for the night.

„Welcome to the 25th Latin Grammies!" The translator spoke as two presenters showed up on the screen.

„Ohh, fun." She smiled, putting the remote down and digging into the popcorn.

She had it playing in the background, but meanwhile she scrolled through social media, trying to pass the time. She laughed at a meme Pri send her, when she grabbed another handful of the popcorn.

„And now... Joe Jonas and Ela Taubert!"

Ann chocked, the whole bag of popcorn landing on the floor, making a mess. She grabbed her chest as she coughed, trying to steady her breathing.

The girl started to sing in Spanish, a silhouette of Joe visible in the background.

„No, no, no, this can't be happening." She eagerly reached for the remote, trying to quickly change programs, but she was too late.

„Maybe I was too naive and only saw what I wanted to
Ignoring all the warning signs even when I knew the truth
Did you know that you were leaving?
Was it something predetermined?"

Ann's vision became blurry from tears and she could feel her heart beating like crazy. Her eyes were glued to the screen, completely hypnotized by it. By him.

For the past six months, she did everything she could to not see him. They didn't contact each other at all, all children related stuff being passed through their baby sitters. They did theirs and the girls' birthdays separately and never attended any parties where there was a possibility to see each other. She didn't watch his Stories or Tik Toks, she mostly tried to stay away from the media. She knew her mom talked with him from time to time, but she would never be the one to tell her not to. Sophie respected their decision and never spoke about him around Ann.

And suddenly after so many months of ‚Joe Detox' here he was, right in front of her on the screen, performing a song that clearly was about her. And the emotions he poured while he sang only made her more sure that it really was.

It looks so easy for you to walk away
To turn the page on us completely
And I can't wrap my head around the fact
That we went from it all
Now we're back, back to people that we don't know."

Tears were now falling down her face as the lyrics hit her deep. She sobbed, unable to look away. No matter how fucked up it all was, she missed seeing him. Seeing his face, hearing his voice... It brought back all the feeling she left aside.
