After finding out some information about doppelgängers for Elena, we left Duke and headed straight back home. Damon had found a book about Katherine titled Patrova which he gave to Elena, and she had taken it back with her so she could find out more.
I hadn't bothered to take the book on siphoning back with me. It didn't say anything I hadn't already figured out on my own, and I wouldn't forget being labeled as an abomination anytime soon. But now that I know that I can use the siphoned magic to create my own spells, I finally found myself properly looking through the spell book.
The book was open on my bed in front of me as I sat cross legged. I traced my finger along the slightly yellowing pages, trying to figure out how to pronounce the Latin spells. I found myself staying away from certain spells after reading the description, the last thing I wanted to do was accidentally summon a ghost or burn my house down.
There was a gust of air beside me, and the familiar presence of a vampire appeared beside me. I didn't need to look up to know it was Damon. While all vampires feel cold like death, he has a particular sense about him that I could pick out of a crowd of undead creatures.
I also wasn't even surprised that he was over considering he had orchestrated a barbecue at my house so he could meet Mason Lockwood, all because he was a friend of Jenna's.
"Spell books, huh?" He mused, leaning his chin on my shoulder as he looked down over at the book that rested in front of me
"Apparently I can do spells with the magic I siphon. Though I don't think I have any, right now." I mused. I couldn't feel that familiar sense of power rushing through me, making me think that I was out of magic.
"Take some from me." Damon said, sitting up slightly and shifting to sit beside me.
"No, Damon." I shook my head in disagreement. Every Time I've taken magic from a vampire, it has caused them pain. The last thing I want to do is hurt him.
"Come on, Thea. Just a little bit, I'll be fine." Damon argued.
I hesitated, my fingers brushing against his arm gently. I felt the sparks of power on my fingertips as I touched his skin, every cell of my body cried out for it. I braced myself for the possibility that I would hurt him and wrapped my hand around his forearm, allowing myself to embrace the energy.
"I'm so sorry if this hurts." I muttered softly. My hand glowed a soft red, and Damon didn't flinch.
"It doesn't, actually." Damon spoke in a gentle voice, his brows furrowed slightly as I stared down at my hand with a look of wonder in his gaze.
I pulled my hand back after a moment, only taking the smallest amount of vampirism from him. My gaze drifted from his face and back down to the book that lay in front of me. I glanced at the page it was open on, finding a spell that seemed the least dangerous.
"Lecutio." I spoke the words, hoping I got the translation correct. I felt a buzzing of power in my veins before sparks of electricity appeared on my fingers. The white flashes of light danced between my fingers like they were metal conductors. My eyes widened almost comically as I watched with fascination.
"Holy shit." Damon chuckled as he also watched with fascination.
I let the power die down in my veins, and the small bolts of electricity died down on my fingers. Somehow I wasn't affected by it as it danced across my skin, it felt warm, but not painful in the slightest.
"That was insane." I laughed, a feeling of amazement taking over. I turned my head to look at Damon, finding that he was already looking over at me with an intense look in his eyes.
