Tolerate it

The sound of voices coming from the ground floor of the Salvatore boarding house stirred me from my sleep. I pried my eyes open with a soft groan. Part of me didn't want to get up out of bed, but the other part of me was too nosey for my own good. I pushed off the duvet and made my way down the stairs, only partly aware of the fact that I was only wearing shorts and one of Damon's black t-shirts.

Once down the stairs, my gaze landed on Damon talking to Jeremy, who had his backpack slung over his shoulders.

"Jeremy?" I called out in confusion, wondering what my little brother was doing at my boyfriend's house when he should be at school.

"Thea? What are you doing...never mind." Jeremy stopped himself mid sentence when he realized what I was wearing, his mind quickly putting two and two together. There was a disturbed look in his eyes, but that didn't stop the teasing smirk that he formed.

"What are you doing here, Jer?" I questioned him, crossing my arms across my chest as I suddenly felt exposed.

"I'm here to talk to Damon." Jeremy shrugged, like it was something he does all the time.

"What about?" I questioned

"Tyler Lockwood isn't a werewolf yet. He has to kill to activate the curse. And Mason is looking for a moonstone, that's why he's here."

"I'm gonna call Alaric, see if he knows anything about a moonstone." Damon said as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.

"And I am going to get dressed." I said awkwardly as I backed out of the room and rushed up the stairs.

Once I was dressed in my own clothes, I went back down the stairs and waited on the couch for Alaric Saltzman to come over with the books he had taken from his undead wife. It didn't take long for the door to open as the history teacher vampire slayer let himself in, a brown box tucked under his arm.

"Ric." Damon greeted him.

"What are you doing here?" Alaric asked Jeremy the moment he noticed him.

"Helping Damon. I'm the one who found out about the moonstone." Jeremy said firmly. Alaric looked over at Damon who shrugged in response.

"Does Elena know you're here?" Alaric asked him.

"Not exactly." Jeremy admitted

"Elena did tell you to stay away from all of this." I pointed out from my lounged position on the couch.

"Well, good thing Elena isn't here, right Thea?" Jeremy asked with a raised brow, almost challenging me to kick him out or tell our sister.

"What do you got?" Damon asked as he looked down at the box Alaric had put down on the couch beside me.

"This is Isobel's research from Duke. Her assistant sent it to me." Alaric answered

"Vanessa? The bitch who tried to kill Elena?" I piped up, my gaze reflecting my irritation as I thought back about the girl.

"Yeah. Vanessa. Yes." Alaric nodded, choosing to ignore my comment.

"Do you remember the Aztec curse she told us about?" Alaric questioned Damon.

"Sun and the moon, blah, blah, blah?" Damon recalled vaguely

"The Aztec curse. Cool." Jeremy walked closer with interest.

"Vampires and werewolves used to roam freely...until a shaman put a curse on them to limit their power. Since then, uh, werewolves can only turn on a full moon...and vampires are weakened by the sun." Alaric explained.
