The plan

I hovered nervously behind aunt Jenna as she shuffled towards the front door of our house with Matt supporting her. Somehow, she had been discharged from hospital the next day, apparently her injury wasn't as bad as it had looked. Damon had offered me some of his vampirism, so I was prepared if something were to happen again. But hopefully it won't.

"Easy." Matt said as they stepped over the threshold. "Grab the door, Jer."

"Okay, stop fussing. I'm fine." Jenna chastised them

"The doctor said that you have to take it easy." Elena pointed out

"Yeah, you don't want to rip your stitches, hemorrhage, and die." Jeremy said as he closed the door. I shot him an unamused look, not finding his comment funny at all.

"Yeah, the only thing I'm gonna die from is embarrassment. I walked into a knife. How does somebody do that?" Jenna said exasperatedly

"It was a freak accident." Elena said awkwardly, her voice tense.

"Yeah. It happens." Jeremy added

"Yeah, I mean, I've done it like 20 times at the grill." Matt said, making Jenna snort a laugh before she winced from the pain.

"Okay, I'm being nice." Matt admitted with a light chuckle as he helped Jenna lower herself down onto the couch. "All right, easy."

Matt then turned to Elena with a grocery bag. "What should I do with this?"

"I got it." Elena said with a light smile as she took it from him and made her way over to the kitchen. Jeremy and I followed her, the both of us having only one thing on our mind.

"So, what are we gonna do?" Jeremy asked eagerly in a low tone.

"Make lunch." Elena said as she placed the bags on the counter

"About Katherine." Jeremy added, making sure that Elena knew what he was talking about.

"We're not gonna do anything, Jeremy." Elena said.

My brows furrowed and I shot her a surprise look. "Nothing? Seriously, Elena?"

"She tried to kill Jenna. We can't let her get away with that." Jeremy pointed out

"Yes. If it keeps us safe, then we can." Elena said firmly

"What if she tries something else?" Jeremy questioned

"She won't. Katherine hurt Jamma because I didn't do what she said. Well, I'm doing it now. Me and Stefan are over. She wins. The end." Elena said.

While I had been with Damon in his bathroom, Elena had been down the stairs breaking things off with Stefan. In my opinion, she was only enabling Katherine, showing her that if she does bad things she can get what she wants from us.

"You're being naive, and you know it." Jeremy said what I was thinking. Katherine wasn't just going to stop now that Elena and Stefan were done, I have a feeling her plan is bigger than that.

Jeremy grabbed his jacket and started heading for the door. "Where are you going?" Elena asked him

"Out. I'll be back." Jeremy called out as he walked down the hall. I shot Elena a look before I followed after him, catching up to him just as he walked out the front door.

"Jer." I called out and grabbed his arm to stop him

"Don't tell me you're with Elena, too?" Jeremy asked exasperatedly as he turned to look at me.

"No. We have to do something about Katherine, I just want to know what your plan is. You can't just go up to her and stake her." I explained

"I'm going to see Stefan and Damon. I'm not that reckless." Jeremy explained
